Turbo to ic pipe

Hello guys,

I'm happy to announce that an important upgrade is now available publicly.

Here is the troublesome OEM turbo to intercooler pipe that is prone to failure, causing all kind of problems (falling apart, whisteling, blockinh airflow). I have noticed that sometimes my car had additonal whistling sound that it shouldn't suppose to have. I also felt that it was a bit low on power when it was whisteling so it really bothered me. I have checked all the pipings but everything was fine. Later when I removed the intercooler hoses to replace them with silicon hoses, while I was removing bottom turbo to IC hose, a metal part felt right out of the intercooler and I was shocked. I inspected the part and later discovered that this is the part of the stock turbo to IC pipe that unfortunately felt apart. Luckily the part was big enough so it didn't get sucked into the engine intake, and got stuck at the intercooler inlet, but the feeling was bad. Definately bad enough not to buy another stock part. Stock part has built in resonator to slightly quiet the turbo, but I don't think we need this on 4C right? And we definately don't need it if it will end in the intercooler or even worse, the engine.

Also mounting bracket was broken. Looks like vibrations killed it, and then further the vibrations and heat killed the puncturings that were holding together the tube and the resonator parts. Long story short. We have designed upgraded, motorsport rated replacement part. For those interested into further details of this product, you can find additional info in the product description on our web page and for other "instant" guys, here is before and after pic.

I believe this is a very important and affordable upgrade. Or if you want it other way. An unimportant upgrade until you mess your engine due to the failing stock pipe

Regards,

Rudi

I am curious what the purpose of that resonator is in the pipe. Are we sure it is just to quiet the turbo and not for another purpose like removing unwanted or dangerous harmonics, or perhaps to 'tune' the sound of the turbo. The 4C makes some unique turbo sounds and I am curious if removing the resonator section will be a +/- for the 4C turbo sounds.

Anyone who replaces their stock tube with the new strengthened one, minus resonator, please provide feedback on, if and how, it affected the turbo noises.

I got mine just a few minutes ago. Always quick delivery from Rudi! I guess it is time to jack the car up and swap out the intercooler hose too!

Thank you all for your support. We do invest pretty much all the income from upgrades to further developement, so more to come.

Gasket can be reused, but you can change it if you're a perfecionist. Gaskets are actually on a back order (2 - 3 weeks) here at Alfa Romeo dealership, so the first few batches of this "turbo to IC pipe" are unfortunately dispatched without. I will also include a stainless steel cable tie to tighten the rubber / silicon hose, but also waiting for a set of them. Sorry about that, I hope a quick delivery will make up for it. I'll do something extra for you guys next time.

P.S.: Gasket part nr.: 50526349

Rudi

Hello,

Do you have any particular issues regarding the installation? Instructions were sent to your e-mail with shipping confirmation.

Rudy,
I have not purchased one......I wanted to see how labor intensive the install and see if I think I can do it myself

OK. I have thought for a I second I might have missed you.

I would rate this DIY with difficulty 2/10. Basic tools needed and about 30 - 60 min job.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove rear diffusor
2. Remove rear underbody panel
3. Remove rear lower intercooler rubber hose
4. Remove stock turbo to intercooler pipe
5. Loosen stock turbo to IC pipe bracket
6. Install GMS turbo to IC pipe
7. Reinstall parts back in reverse order steps above
