Very interesting!
Have a link to this? Not that I don't believe you, but would like to hear it myself for nuance.

Also, has Seb commented on the race? I don't recall a post-race interview, although I did hear team radio during race box where he was lamenting Leclerc's problems. Everyone's got to feel for the boy, and that was of course after Seb made that dreadful mistake late in the race.

But hey, if Ferrari want to punish Charles, I'll bet any number of teams would be happy to accommodate him!!!
He won hearts and minds of the public and with that, sponsors, all in just over 24 hours. When was the last time that happened with a junior Ferrari driver?

Eventually the F1 full team radio messages, which can be 30-60 minutes, are released as audio and/or transcripts. Currently, I think there are 30 minutes of FIA released 'highlights' for Bahrain, but the full list must be edited or redacted to some degree. Posting multiple links above to sources.

This link has Charles telling reporters about the 'don't pass for 2 laps' order. https://www.racefans.net/2019/04/01/...behind-vettel/

Leclerc told his race engineer “I’m quicker, guys” as he approached turn four after closing on his team mate at the start of lap five. The radio message was played on the world television feed, but the subsequent reply from his team was not.

Approaching turn 10, Leclerc was told “stay there for two laps, stay there for two laps”. However on the next lap Leclerc overtook Vettel around the outside of turn one.

Afterwards Leclerc said he was “just letting them know” with his original radio message. “Then I think I had an answer, saying to me ‘OK, stay like this for two laps’ but then on the next straight I had the opportunity to go for it, so I went for it and it was a successful pass.”

Ferrari did not communicate to Vettel that his team mate had been told to temporarily hold position. Leclerc was also told during the Australian Grand Prix to stay behind his team mate at the end of the race, an instruction he complied with.

Leclerc said the team had warned the drivers before the race to take extra care when fighting with each other.

“It’s always a tricky situation when you get to fight your team mate because the risks are very high. As in every team, I think, they warn you before the race: OK, you can try things on different people, but with your team-mate, please be careful. Which is something normal.

“But I had the opportunity on lap five and I didn’t hesitate, I just [went] for it. I was happy it was successful the first time I tried, especially after the bad start. So, yeah, happy with how it ended up.”

Vettel, on cool down lap, looked at big screen tv and saw LeClerc not celebrating win, and said he felt terrible for him and he guessed something must have went wrong. Sounded genuine. Vettel post race was pretty much addressing his spin and saying he needed to catch up with team about Charles' situation.

Vettel's radio comment was released with the F1 radio highlights that were aired during race day (with delay for screening, as all messages are)

Hope Leclerc develops the killer instinct of Schumacher Sr or Senna, otherwise, he seems to be on track

Vettel couldn’t possibly be upset at the news of the ‘no pass for two laps’ request ignore situation. He’s made an art form of it.

@4Canada : I have placed the audio on my YouTube channel of the 'stay there for two laps (behind Vettel)' order (I suppose to give Seb a chance to develop pace or sacrifice Charles to hold up Mercedes, which is no surprise to anyone).

Vettel: In defense of Vettel infamously passing his RBR teammate despite team rules and orders, I can tell you that when he passed Webber, it was once against a rule (not an order) which was about when the team cars were 1-2 on the last two laps or something, and another was directly in spite of a radio message, but when these things happened, it was Seb returning the favor, as Weber did that to Seb originally. No sense taking any moral high ground for Seb. Nice guys don't win as often as the cutthroats. When Rosberg was criticized most harshly for his driving, and even pushing and punting Ham off track, he won the Drivers Championship and had spent over a year with a sport psychologist to get him to toughen up (he goes into this on his YouTube channel and as recently as race commentary about Charles passing Vettel in Bahrain). I forget where I defended Rosberg (probably on Porsche owners forum), but ruthless is best.

If you've never seen Charles in F2, this last lap on-the-edge fight and pass of Albon (now with Toro Rosso) should give you a pretty good sense of his nerve, skill and determination. High up on my list, before I knew him as an F1 driver:

Scuderia Ferrari Power Unit Update:

Ferrari power unit issue with LeClerc confirmed as bad injection control unit, or a short within that unit, leading to one injector not operating properly.

No engine damage.

Also, for @4Canada :

Vettel's extended team radio message re: LeClerc, below

So, any conspiracy theories about the team actually having just remotely de-activating the cylinder injection during the race to teach Charles a lesson? I.E. no failure at all.

Because: Ferrari.
