Would like to hear more... as I love the F430.

The only car I was as interested in was the Alpine A110, but that wasn’t an option in the US. Would have likely ended up in a Cayman were the 4C not an option.

Had my heart set on a F430 coupe. 4C came out with similar experience + better reliability + similar performance below deep 3 figure speeds + half price (at the time) + carbon fiber tub + DCT=win in my book.

Came from an Exige S240, would've definitely gone to a V6 Exige if it was possible. Probably would have looked for a 1st gen NSX as the Evora 400 was too spendy for me and the regular Evora was not impressive enough.

I always had an eye for lightweight cars like Lotus... but I never got warm with the Toyota engine and gearbox.

The Porsches are/were too perfect, very fast but you don't get "wet hands" behind the steering wheel. Not that emotional and dramatical as an italien car (or a Honda S2000). Very expensive maintenance costs.

The BMWs are a compromise in many ways...

I always was hoping for a Lotus with a Honda engine & gearbox or a next generation Honda S2000: Honda S2500 with 5 cylinder?

And then with the 4C I met all I have missed with the other cars: lightweight with a good engine & gearbox, low-tech electronic, perfect design, very dramatical to drive, cheap/normal maintenance costs

What I would have bought instead? Probably I would have stick with the the cars I had before... a little bit unhappy and a little bit looking around what's next

I have a 2016 Miata ND RF, I bought that car two years ago looking for a real driving experience. At the time I knew of the 4C, but it was out of my price range. Now, two years later I pulled the trigger on a reasonably priced Launch Edition. I guess I'm a fan of lightweight drivers' cars and honestly if the 4C didn't exist I would have just kept driving the ND because the absolute value this car brings is unmatched.

Either an Exige or an air-cooled 911. Actually the reason I bought the 4C was because I got tried of looking for an Exige or 911 with all the options I wanted. I knew about the 4C and liked it, I just didn't consider it because it only came in a DCT so I decided to step out of my comfort zone with this one and I am glad I did. The only car I could see myself replacing it with now is another 4C but in euro spec.

Yeah the MX5 is a well that is hard to get out of once in. Lightweight- balance, tossable, trackable, sweet manual, and drop top if you like that, and plenty of mod options for more power. The problem is the issues that came with modifying my NC meant I didn’t want to go down that route again and when the ND was announced with 155hp it was all over for me. But the cost to get out of the gravity well of the Miata is quite high too.

That "well" is so real. I would love to keep both if I am being honest since they are such different cars, but I'm not yet at the point in my life where I should be collecting cars lol. Trying to convince my father to take the Miata off me to keep it in the family though haha.
