Hey so I noticed a weird sound after I parked my car. I popped the trunk and noticed the coolant reservoir is spraying coolant from a small crack near where the hose connects. How common is this? For now I’m going to let it cool down and put RTV 732 on it so it won’t spray out more, and once it cools down more I’ll put DP2216 sealant to seal it until my service in two weeks.

You can get a stock Alfa coolant reservoir replacement tank from "Alfa Corsa". They have them in stock. Fast delivery, about 2days. They come with a new cap and the newer black cover. It is a factory Alfa Romeo part.
It looks better than one without the black cover. Easy replacement. Cost is $125.00. If I remember right, they are out of Ohio or Indiana

A known weakness of the plastic tank, not just of the 4C. Not too expensive to replacewith an oem one. If it has cracked in one place it’s likely to start cracking in others. Buy a new oem one or go all out and get an aluminium replacement (expensive).

An older photo with the black painted cap (now bare metal) still in place.

Update, as of now, it’s not leaking much at all. Engine temps have been good so far after an hour of driving and watching the engine temp/oil temp gauge (in dynamic mode). The RTV is holding up well, but for now, until my new reservoir comes in the mail, I’m going to remove the RTV later after I get back to work, and put some JBWeld Plastic bonder on it. Since that’ll hold better to heat and the pressure. (yes I know it’s not make for this type of plastic, but it will still hold a lot better than the RTV 732 or 737 I used)

UPDATE #2! So I got a soldering iron and smoothed the plastic over the crack. Then I applied JB weld plastic bonder over, topped the coolant off and she’s good to go (OAT Mopar obviously haha). I did that yesterday and drove it a total of 6 hours combined yesterday and today. Not a drop of coolant leaking out at all. I’d consider this a job well done until I get the replacement! 👌🏽
