Australian 4C Servicing Costs

Hi fellow Aussie 4C owners. I thought it might be handy to start a thread where we can compare servicing costs to help us make sure we're all getting a reasonable deal from our service centres.

My car is with the dealer today to have a suspension noise looked at so I asked how much to get the oil and filter changed while it's up on the hoist. I was quoted $330, and they didn't have the parts in stock anyway so I'm not getting it done. Apparently the oil is $90, filter is $60 and washer/gasket is $20 (presumably pre-GST), and then add about an hour's labour. That still sounds excessive to me - about $140 for an hour of labour!

Anyone else had an oil and filter change done? If so, how much were you charged?

Did that i
No surprises Alfanut - $1950 (incl GST) as quoted.
Does that include full service?

Hi Gilles27. Everything except spark plug replacement. Includes bolt tighening, oil & filter, air filter, brake fluid, timing & accessory belt change.
I just received an email from Alfa Romeo Australia asking me to take a survey after having my car serviced this week, and telling me how important my opinion was to Alfa. When I clicked on the survey button in the email it took me to an Alfa web page which just said 'We are no longer accepting surveys. Thank you for your consideration.'

I guess my opinion doesn't matter that much after all...

Same thing happened to me. I was offered a 10% discount on my next service if I completed it but was unable to do the survey. Nice one, Alfa.

The code is "FEEDBACK" the survey says you can get 20% off on your next logbook service.

Thanks, I was going on memory...I’ll go back to the email to see if it still works. It didn’t last time I tried.

If it doesn't work just use the code I gave you. I am sure it would be the same for everyone who does the survey to get the discount.

Anyone done the bolt tightening in Sydney? If so who did it and how much on top of regular service?

Mine was done with the cambelt service. McCarolls Artarmon the Tech was Tim Panetta. His Father is Rob Panetta from Mannings Motors in the Northern beaches area and Old School Alfa Mechanic.
Thanks, I was just told by my local service dept that they have never done bolt tightening on a 4C. And there is only one Alfa service dept in Sydney…

They don't call it Bolt Tightening, they refer to it as something else. When I said I want Bolt tightening they hadn't a clue what I was talking about???!!!!

This is what they call it -

Mechanical Fastening Check.

Vehicle Fastening Check.

All suspension, and engine components get Re Fastened to the correct torque.

Not true. Parramatta Alfa (service dept) at Camelia has 4C techs. They’ve always been good to me. Apart from the belt service every other service has been less than $1000 , which includes the bolts. Apart from once I’ve had the same tech, Barry. Been very happy with his work. Who’s your local service agent? A matter of semantics. fasteners or bolts, same thing….and there are two types of fasteners.
I am probably due the bolt service, don’t think it’s ever been done..
I think I did belts 2019
Oils and plugs 2020
Nothing as yet for 2021

Prob driven 1000-2000kms max in that time,
What is the belt life span / recommendation here

Did they hand him back the faulty one? Hope so to check what it is and if it’s not something out of a Fiat 500….like the door mirrors. Effing Alfa Tax.

Not Sure...I totally agree..these parts especially a Regulator which isnt part specific for the 4c could come from a 1979 Gemini!! Just because when you order parts they go off the VIN#& it being a 4c there's the Bend over no lube tax!

Just like the F1 pump on the 156 is the same part for the 4200 GT Maserati from memory. Cause of the part ordering sequence you pay a billion dollars more!

Right but isn’t the bolt tightening that 4C needs related to the tub, not really engine etc. Shouldn’t it be the aluminium sub frames and potentially front suspension?
