Australian 4C Servicing Costs

Hi fellow Aussie 4C owners. I thought it might be handy to start a thread where we can compare servicing costs to help us make sure we're all getting a reasonable deal from our service centres.

My car is with the dealer today to have a suspension noise looked at so I asked how much to get the oil and filter changed while it's up on the hoist. I was quoted $330, and they didn't have the parts in stock anyway so I'm not getting it done. Apparently the oil is $90, filter is $60 and washer/gasket is $20 (presumably pre-GST), and then add about an hour's labour. That still sounds excessive to me - about $140 for an hour of labour!

Anyone else had an oil and filter change done? If so, how much were you charged?

Have recently found a new Alfa specialist at Bowen Hills (Brisbane), lovely guys but not cheap - a minor service was $900 (AUD). Have been advised that spark plugs need changing and I've asked them to swap the coolant tank out (known failure point) for the revised version. They are recommending a full coolant flush as the coolant in there is not factory. All up - $1650.
Is this a reasonable price do you think?

In my experience only the big 5th year cam belt change service has exceed 2 grand (and not by much). None of my other services were over $1000 but I did supply the parts. I think your new blokes are excessively priced.
I’m going to do my oil change at home shortly so recently ordered an oil test kit. Last year it was $37.00, this year $45.00 + postage, so who knows what is reasonable any more?
How many 4Cs have they touched?
I don't believe they've done much with the 4C, although I don't think we really have many 4Cs here in Brisbane anyway.
Alfa have just opened an official service centre again here (it's been years since the last one closed down and moved to Noosa), but not sure I'd be confident in their abilities or costs. I might try Automotion again at Enoggera just to compare, I wasn't overly fussed with their initial look over my 4C, they thought that the whole HVAC system was some sort of LED board and that it would have to be taken out and sent away to fix a bulb issue (which I fixed for $4). Slim pickings here in Brisbane for competent mechanics.

I’d ask if anyone employed in the new service centre has specific 4C training before dismissing them out of hand. The trick with whomever you choose is to develop a good relationship with them. I was treated very well over the six years I took my 4C to my service centre.
Thanks Alfanut, I will give them a call and enquire a bit more.

Just had the bolts tightened and a brake fluid flush at Scuderia Cavallino, Five Dock. I brought with me new front brake discs and pads but they said I still had a couple of mm left on the discs and pads so not to worry until next year. Honest advice and friendly, skilled service from Ferrari-trained mechanics. They love the 4C and Giulia Quads. Surprisingly good prices too. Much to commend. Give ‘em a call if you’re local to Sydney. I’m not on a retainer, just communicating a great experience where you get to talk directly to the guys who work on your car. I’ll be back next year. 👍
Some have experiences of >$2G’s for the service at a dealer. Try around half that here.

Another annual service carried out at Scuderia Cavallino by Vic and Sam.
Still a happy customer.
