Auxiliary setting on ignition switch

I remember older cars with points and distributors; if you left the key in the "On" position it would allow current through the points and/or condenser, which could fry your ignition. That's why they had an ACC position. It let power to only some of the electronics but not the ignition. Not a worry with modern cars.
Was going to type this very thing. Ahhh the bad old days.
