BSPK Forged Presents - The Ultimate 4C Wheels (Magnesium)

Now that I have 17/18's, there is no other option .....

Drool! May have to compromise a bit and think along the lines of a set of 18/18's. A major criteria for me with any future wheel is it cannot have sharp corners where the wheel and spokes meet because that area is a bitch to keep clean esp after track time. One of favorite things about All the circular Alfa wheels is how easy it is to keep them mint.
So I guess based on Mg being used for extreme lightness, the ultimate question is "what wheel pattern makes the lightest wheel?

That is what I have. Thought Teknas were a bit lighter but wasn't quite as fond of those aforementioned sharp corners.

So Gabriella is a bigger girl.....bigger circles???:giggle:

After I get thru a few projects, going to have to visit this concept!!

Sorry for any confusion. The Magnesium product is not yet on the website. It’s more “special order” at this stage given some of the constraints in what sizes/offsets can be made. The 18/19 combination I prepared reduced the weight of the wheels by 32lbs.

Regarding the possibility of a 17” fitment: I hesitate to say never but - trying to be very realistic - there is no ETA for a 17” magnesium option. It may never happen (especially given how the industry has gone to larger sizes - there is not much demand for 17”). I do hope to make a 17” magnesium option possible but I also had been hoping to make a magnesium 4C fitment happen since 2022 and only got a supplier for a suitable blank after 18+ months of persistent contact. Getting the blank supplier to make a 17” blank will take more interest than from me alone, so it’s very much an unknown whether or not there will ever be sufficient demand to justify it.

All that said, I would not expect there to be a material difference in overall weight between a 17/18 configuration and a 18/19 configuration when you account for tire weight. In hindsight, I wish I put cup2s on these wheels as the tires are each about 3lbs lighter than RE71RS. So using cup 2 as an example, 215/45/17 is 20lbs and 215/40/18 is 19lbs. The 1lb difference is likely to be similar (if not greater) than the difference in the wheel weight - so the overall assembly weight would be unchanged in 17/18 versus 18/19.

Hope that is helpful and happy to answer any other questions.

Thanks,
John
This is very telling. Catching up on this concept. Take a pound off a wheel and add a pound back with a tire....hmmmmmm
The pull of those Gabriellas is VERY strong!!!!! Gotta get this $500K++++addition done!!!

Now I just need to sort it all out in my head.
I have my beautiful Gabriella Gunmetals 17/18 mounted with Bridgestone sports in 215/245 and they feel fabulous on the street. I have not done a rainy day yet on track with these, but now that my Evora is sold, the car will definitely see rain next year on track!!!
I have been running my Teledials first with the 215/235 Cup2 Connect240s the car came with last year. That was a shitty combination as rear was grossly undertired and the tire took forever to heat up ...just unimprressive. This season I have run 215/245s on those wheels with RE71RS...I ttook a while to get the pressures dialed in but the tires really hook up better. But...still need more rear tire as all that boost loading up on corner exit is a challenge, controllable oversteer...to a point where I usually exit corners in a higher gear and let the torque do its job....safer too.
I am just an HPDE guy so not trying to win any races here. So do I go balls out with Mgs for track or enjoy the extra ride comfort on street? hmmmm... Steet use suggests 17/18s so that extra sidewall is present and 215/245s are plenty for that use. The smaller tire needs also are a benefit and the Bridgestones were only 1lb heavier than the Pirellis.
On the other hand, if track oriented only and I lean towards a 215?225/255 setup, the choice becomes more challenging. at 255 , I should be dropping the profile a notch to keep the OD from geting too tall. Probably same up front if I went 225......

My experience with the cars only has ~10track days thus far so I know what I know, but the rest I don't know, ya know? The cost of dismounting the street tires and moving to the new 17/18s if I went that way is a drop in the bucket compared to cost of wheels......but maybe 18/19s are better on track with the lower profile..............................your drop a pound a wheel add it back with tire statement has me thinking..............

Sarcasm intended...like saving 30-40lbs on a 3800lb german is helpful. Boy have they gotten huge. I spent my last day of the season teaching in a 2023 M4 Comp and was bored to tears...so NUMB!!! It was no e36/e46 in the fun department. They have got to be illegallly importing sauerkraut somewhere in there.................As big as my 4180 lb GTS is, its not so bad considering the weight of all the newer offerings over the past 5 yrs. Reason I may just track it next year. At least it will be the best sounding car out there!

54.5 lbs for the 18/19 Gabriellas....
love to know what a set of Gabriellas in 17/18 with offsets like the ones you already made for me would run/ The lower weight of the wheels would have to more than counter the tire weights from what you have explained above, otherwise the lower profiles would be the better track choice. I have a hard time comparing another set to your Gabriellas financially, but compared to those stock wheels -35lbs is VERY significant!!

Don't mind me. Bella is asleep. Evora just sold last week. I am on the last vestiges of my car brain till winter....just watched my first FIS alpine races ( I LOVE Mikaela!!!)

Making me want to find a used set of scales......

Said I would get to this and finally had some bandwidth. I think people are going to be pleased. This one is for all the 17/18 folks @liftnot @KianF @SaudiStig @AAaF @ViscontiVerde164L etc...

I drew this up two ways.

The First (the flush fitment).

  • 17x7.5 ET24 - 5.2 kg / 11.4 lbs
  • 18x9 ET25 - 5.7 kg / 12.5 lbs

An absolutely bonkers 19.4kg / 42.7lbs lighter than a set of OEM five holes.

The Second (the track day special):

It gets better… I am nothing if not someone who knows to give the people what they want. We’re going to call this the @AAaF fitment (only because we talked extensively about this). It’s exactly his dream spec and took a modification of the blank mold to achieve but I wanted to make this possible - as a feasibility study if nothing else.

  • 17x7.5 ET33 - 5.3 kg / 11.7 lbs (yes the exact same offset as stock so your front track width is unchanged)
  • 18x9 ET40 - 5.7 kg / 12.5 lbs (a 15mm wider track width / spacer equivalent compared to stock, the sweet spot that many feel provides the best chassis dynamics on track)
So in this the fitment for those “who care about handling rather than looks”

A still absolutely bonkers 19.1 kg / 42.0 lbs lighter than a set of OEM five holes.

Paired with a light tire (e.g. cup2) either of these will eliminate 40+ lbs of rotating mass relative to a set of OEM five holes.
Aaaf fitment would be my go to. Sounds closd tk my current 17/18 Gabriellas
