After seeing members sell their cars, only to return or lament the sale, it's time we had a confession thread combining your experiences in one place. Don't be ashamed. Tell us what happened. But first, you're required to watch and sing along:
Glad you're back. Perhaps you can save someone from a foolish choice.

You sold your 4C?
Wow. Dropping like flies. How long ago?

Replacement or no?
Couple of months ago.
I just wasn't using it and there are no plans to replace it.

1. Tens of thousands of Giulietta’s have our transmission. There will be plenty of parts available for a long time. There’s evidence to suggest it’s a reliable unit, with clutches good for 80,000miles/130,000km of use. Of course it is determined by use/abuse and oil/fluid changes.

I'm still trying to figure out what Phil means by dumb shit. I think my slightly "modified" car is tastefully done. But then again, Lars was involved.

Hit the market as if you're now looking for a 4C and you'll get depressed at what people do this incredibly small number of cars.
Oh I agree. Some "mods" don't seem to make much sense. I try to sick to the ones that appear they came on the car originally as a stock item. Performance mods, well that's a different topic of conversation. There's only so much more performance you can squeak out of a 1.7. Sure everyone wants more, but there is only so much useable horsepower you can use with the other limitations of the car. And if you're going to do a total rebuild/redesign, perhaps the 4C is not the best choice as a starting point.

Traded in my 4C last August after 5+ years of ownership, it was a fun car, for sure, I really enjoyed it, but it was never comfortable for me. The back aches disappear when you having fun on the twisties, but just driving about they come back when you're not concentrating on the next curve. Someone got a beauty, with no issues, low miles, and totally unmolested from stock (except a couple sets of tires). It was 100% reliable. And I know some folks are totally comfortable in the car, so I know it was mostly me, not the car.

I switch cars frequently. I typically switch cars every year. Having said so, there are certain cars I have held onto for a very long time. The 4C is one of them (since new in 2017).

I must admit, however, that I do wonder from time to time. Especially when I drive the 4C casually similar to how I would drive my wife's Volvo. Then, negative thoughts would creep in. This car is so uncomfortable and impractical. Should I get a less-compromised sports car like a BMW M car or a Porsche?

But whenever I go for a spirited drive, I am like... wow, this is such a unique experience.

I don't foresee owning the 4C forever. I just don't believe in keeping any cars forever. There are too many cars I want to experience in my lifetime. But, I do think that it will be one of those cars that I will continue to enjoy for a long time.

I got one of the first non LEs imported into the country back at launch and had the car for 5ish years. The car never missed a beat, never required so much as a single repair or trip to the dealer, and could not be touched in the exotic experience arena for anywhere near the cost. The CF tub in particular, at this price point, is phenomenal. I think so fondly of my time with it. Knowing the car went to an Alfisti did my heart well.

However, at least for me, there is life after the 4C and I won't be going back any time soon although, admittedly, to replace the car for a more exotic experience (in my subjective opinion) requires several times the $$$.

I've had mine from new (2016), but a recent long trip in my 911 (991.2 GTS) with my wife (a lot of luggage) made me think about selling the 4C. The trouble is, where I live in the UK, the roads are rammed most of the time, so to enjoy the car, it means packing for a longer trip away. That's where the 4C falls short, there's just not enough room to pack for a trip of more than a few days. So when do I get to use the 4C on roads most suited to it? I've been thinking about swapping it for something which I think is similar (mid engine, reasonably analogue feel) but more practical in terms of luggage capacity, like a Ferrari F430, but I just can't bring myself to sell the 4C - I like it too much. Decisions decisions.
Perhaps my wife and I are just light packers. We each have one bag. Both fit in the trunk, and done. We are crazy busy and admittedly don't get away too often. When we do it's usually camping or hiking so a different vehicle matches the task, but if it's a getaway not in the mountains, the 4c fits and works. My wife is a small packer and a keeper, just like the 4c🥰

Have you seen schmees roof box on his Ferrari?

A smart matching roofbox like Smee's not such a bad idea, however, AR says nothing on roof permitted.
