Exhaust Noise - Sport Tuned Dual Exhaust vs Akropovic

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new vehicle and the 4c is on my short list.

One question I had was regarding the noise levels of the different exhaust options.

Exactly how bad in terms of noise & drone is the muffler delete option (Sport Tuned Dual Exhaust) vs the Akrapovic.

I'm trying to balance my own enjoyment vs being 'that guy' driving an obnoxiously loud vehicle, waking up neighbors, etc which has me kind of leaning towards the Akrapovic option to be able to control the noise level... but maybe I'm overestimating how loud the car would be with a muffler delete. Hard to say without having seen/heard one in person.

Hoping some owners may be able to chime in. Any issues/complaints for those of you with the muffler delete option? If you could do it again would you prefer to go with the Akrapovic?

@ninefourteener simple solution: drive in D and manual mode.
I always drive in manual, both in my 4C as well as in my Giulietta QV TCT, and that ensures you always are in the gear you want to be in. Why would one drive a hardcore sportscar in automatic?

as for the exhaust: I have the race exhaust (well, Novitec now, but also without muffler so same noise level, just different tone) and it is very annoyingly loud - both on highway as well as when driving (fast) in the country, and it drones tremendously around 2500 - 3000 revs.
So having a muffler is a great asset, and better solution than constantly driving around with ear plugs... and it draws too much, also unwanted, attention.

The too loud exhaust is the thing I dislike most on the 4C.

I swapped my sport or standard pipes for the race but still have the standard down pipe.
Not sure if it would make a difference in sound but the fitment would be a little better.
Have tried to buy the race down pipe a couple of times here but the deals always fell through on the sellers end.

I dont find the car that loud but Im used to louder cars.
I didnt buy this so I can have a nice conversation with the wife while we take the 4C on some leisurely drive somewhere.
Routine driving the sport exhaust unit is wonderful but on a long trip it will get old quick. Fine at 60-70....but at 80+...!!!! JIMHO. Long trip means over an hour. 2300 mi cross country the sport exhaust would be a PIA. Going on a 3-5hr trip to a track event, I'd rather crank some tunes and be able to hear them. Now the weight loss side of me likes the sport unit best. But 3.5lbs is nominal
At least none have the latest in dumb a$$ mods...the pops and farts......we have a few punks around with the M3s and GTi's making these pathetic sounds......the look at me me I'm a dumba$$ mod. Now a few of you (you Know who you are) will say to each his own...correct...but when it just plain annoys the other 99.9%......that is obnoxious. Totally different than the sonorous roar of a Maserati, GT350, etc

Is this from experience? I don’t recall seeing any pictures of your 4C. Long trip of 1 hour? Surely you jest? Double that outbound and you’re talking longish. Quietening the drone with the QS Helmholtz enables you to hear more clearly the road/tyre noise. The 4C will only be quiet when stationary with the engine off. America appears to have more cars optioned with the Akra, so finding a reasonably priced car with it fitted is easier for you than us. It’s just about impossible here unless you have eyes for a 33 Stradale Tributo, though a UK parts supplier has them on sale at present.…I think there are better ways to spend money.

I test drove a sport exhaust unit, and it doesn't take long to know what I said above. If I was on track, no brainer. It was a great sound ...just too much for my ears to deal with all day.
FYI I test drove a 2016 Coupe (Grey/black), a 2020 Spider(Alfa Rosso Red/Black) similar to the one I am getting except for color, and have instructed in a few as welll...easy fella, I have plenty of clue. I have experienced all 3 exhaust setups. Usually, I am not a fan of valved systems, even on my GTS I have the infamous golf tee in the red hose.....I only plug it back in when taking a long trip with the wife. 1300 miles to Florida qualifies as long esp non -stop. But the Akra strikes a nice balance in a mildly insulated cabin.
