I want to upgrade the horn and saw this Ferrari horn kit from mrfiat.com for $108. The main question I have is, do I need to run a thick wire directly from the battery for the relay? I understand an air compressor might need like 20A.

Also, I found these two images on my hard drive (google image search can't find where I got them from) so apparently the horn is in front bumper area:

I have installed a set of Dual, two tone electric horns. They are Hella's. Purchased from Griot's Garage for $49.99. Plenty Loud! They mounted in the Stock location, Under the Left Front head light. The Horns Included a "Y" wire. I just hooked up to the Stock wiring. Go to Go.

Air horns uses compressors which draw a lot more current, like 20A. Since the stock 4C horn uses a 10A fuse, I may just skip the relay and upgrade the fuse to a 20A fuse. I just love the sound of the old Ferrari horns since I watched this video:

The top two pictures are from my car, the horn works fine and I used the standard wiring.

UPDATE: The Hella Compressor Horn Twin Tone 12 V 780/840Hz has been installed. Here are a few pics. The steps involved are:

1. Remove front driver wheel and tire.
2. Remove front inner wheel well liner, it's just a bunch of screws -- Philips, Torx T27(?) and 10mm bolts.
3. Unplug original horn and remove it, just one 10mm bolt.
4. Cut the stock wiring harness (black is negative, purple is positive) and add your wiring for the new compressor.
5. Find good places to mount the two new horns and the compressor keeping in mind you will have to route some air hoses and wiring.

The vintage Ferrari horns I got from eBay didn't work out so well (one didn't work and neither sounded very Ferrari-ish), but the bracket was perfect for these new horns. Basically, a $90 bracket. EDIT: Wanted to also mention that I'm glad this doesn't sound exactly like a Ferrari horn. It sounds very Italian and suits the 4C so much better than trying to copy that vintage Ferrari horn sound.

I'm pretty stoked about how it sounds and after being quoted over $400 to have it installed from a couple places, I'm glad I did it myself. This also forced me get my own floor jack finally (I feel like an actual adult now lol) I attached some pics with notes and here is what it sounds like.

The top picture is a Stebel Nautilus compact. Made in Italy. Use the same wiring harness with an adapter. Only need to upgrade the fuse to 15A.

Did you install this? I had one in my old Abarth but it needed to be wired to the battery. How is this one installed in the 4c? Just to the horn wires?
Is the 15A fuse under the passenger kickplate?

I only paid less than $30 for my two Italian horn system. I didn’t have to change the fuses or anything and it’s worked great for over two years. I’m sure it sounds the same as the $300 Ferrari one LOL
i bought the hella ones. I think they were $47. Now to try to install them...my brain thinks I’m handy but reality is something completely different.

So I did my own install today. Mine are the Hella twin air horns like above. Great instructions from @Outrun.
I used the OEM horn bracket. Just drilled a hole in the middle to mount it. Attached each horn to the holes on each end.
For the compressor there was a PERFECT hole already in a piece of the frame. Mounted it right in there. In pic 6, You can see my sharpie pen pointing to the bolt I put in an existing hole to mount the compressor. It’s like it was made for it.
Put in a 20A fuse as well and bob’s your uncle. Sounds great!
Super easy. The only tough part is getting both your hands in the front area at the same time. Lol.

I’ve had air horns for years on my special cars and never has one failed. My favorite was the French Maserati police horns I put on my 1973 Opal GT.

You must use your horn a whole lot more than other people!
Get out of my way you old lady! Lol

Question about the fuses.
At the recommendation in previous posts, I replaced the 10A horn fuse with a 20A fuse.
That’s kind of making me anxious. Seems to be counterintuitive. Couldn’t that be a fire hazard? I think the compressor is 15A.
Thoughts?
