Historically climate is always changing , has nothing to do with your fires ,they just happen to be an easy talking point for stupid liberals with no proof of anything , look back in history ,all the predictions have not come true . Its a hoax and these same people you adore are going to take these cars away from us eventually so keep supporting them and enjoy driving a prius .

You must be right Lars yesterday there were demos against inaction on climate change right throughout the world.
I am not interested in arguing with you!

Plenty of idiots will march on a Thursday for something they cant touch or see while they should be working . There is no proof its an illusion . Ever notice they speak in generalities and never give you specifics . There is NO scientific proof just people telling you not to do things as they fly around in private jets(huge alleged carbon footprint) around the world collecting money to speak about the hoax . Its a perfect scam

I’m surprised no-one has said 4Cs  . I’m just reading the question. We seem to attract idiots. There’s always someone who wants to get by, block you in or wants to race, at least once on every drive. Or is it just me? It doesn’t happen in any other car I own. ...That being said no other car I’ve owned has encouraged more polite behaviour too. So many have pulled over to let me pass, that includes semis as well as cars.
PS. About the other issue discussed above: I listen to the environmental experts, who only have the environment in mind, not other loud mouths with vested financial interest in the status quo. I listen to our own scientists from our own CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) and scientific minds like Carl Sagan (unfortunately, long since deceased). What scientific organisation or group of qualified scientists to the climate change deniers listen to for their information? Yes, the climate has always changed but not as quickly as it has most recently and in line with predictions of increased atmospheric CO2. Ozone depletion due to CFCs was also a hoax, I suppose?
And remember the Earth is doomed to bake eventually as fusion migrates outwards from Sun’s core. Only a billion or so years to go. I’m thinking there’s no rush to needlessly hurry things along due to our own behaviours here on Earth at the present time.

All the predictions from scholars have been wrong and they will continue to be wrong , you can quote who you want to , make allegations of whats quicker now than the past but the reality is we cant control what the inhabitants of this planet will do . China is responsible for 90% of all polutions in the ocean how can we fix that over here we have no control .
Things have come a long way in regards to keeping cars clean ....we can have this conversation all we want but lets let it come full circle to the one thing we all love and that is cars . This being a forum about our cars ....this movement will likely change nothing about the earths course ,but one thing it will evaperate is the beautiful sound of a V12 engine , soon they will be history , than the v10 and so on. With them or without them the earth will still run its couse . So enjoy it while you can because thise sounds will be wisked away in a short period of time . Than we will be stuck with electric cars that have no soul .
Global warming is a power grab, look at history , look at documented predictions ( none true ) .....the earth will do what its going to do regardless of us .

We do have a moral obligation to do what we can. I’m dead in 20-30 years but my kids, with any luck, won’t be. Not to act now on their behalf, while there is still a window of opportunity, is irresponsible to say the least. There’s nothing to lose by acting....there was opposition to the abolition of slavery, opposition to the whaling ban, opposition to hunting of native species such as seals, kangaroos, bison etc., even opposition to anti-pollution equipment on cars by manufacturers and consumers early on in the 70’s and later. There’s always opposition from vested interests who don’t want to change their behaviours. Always.
Opposition to Galileo, opposition to Darwinian evolution even when shown the evidence. I can read graphs, discern trends in data and view CO2 ice core concentration trends over 800,000 years which show an increase in CO2 concentration since industrialisation, over the last 200 years. We ignore the data to our extreme discomfort, if not peril.

You cannot surf the internet and drive a petrol car and argue against petrol cars and the what the internet runs on and be expected to be taken seriously.

It's like shoving a lit cigar up your ass and smoking several cigarettes while railing against tobacco in a forum about people who love nicotine.

Environmental terrorists and climate change wackos with too much influence and not enough brains have more than once prevented management programs from burning off the underbrush/fuel that builds up and they've bullied politicians into not letting farmers and others create fire breaks and do other things to manage the ecosystem. It happened in the USA when we couldn't burn off materials or manage the environment, then we put out every natural fire before the fire could do its thing (which is needed).

Eventually it reaches a tipping point and nature tells all the geniuses to fuck off. Instead of small and medium-sized fires over decades, the fuel builds up and the whole fucking thing goes up.

No body is saying stop now. What they are saying is we have to reduce what we emit and transition to other forms of green energy over the next thirty years. Lots to lose if you’re wrong fellas.
About the Australian bush; eucalyptus trees here are evergreen, they tend to drop their leaves more than usual in times of extreme stress, as in the drought we are having today. They also contain eucalyptus oil. There isn’t an army of firefighters large enough to do the strategic burn-offs required with the amount of leaves dropped in the last six months, especially when landcare specialists in National Parks and Wildlife have been made redundant and fire services reduced in these parts. Also there are limited days where the weather conditions are favourable for burn-offs to happen. It isn’t the greenies down here. They hold no political power in our current parliament and don’t make the decisions. NPW responsibilities have been handed off to our State governments. No green balance of power in my state.
The combination of extreme drought (it hasn’t rained for an extended period here in Sydney since Easter, 2015) and extreme temperatures has produced the right conditions for these fires. We had a few drops of rain today, almost nothing,. Basically, until the fuel runs out or we have substantial rain, these fires are continuing. It’s never happened as extensively as this before since colonisation....
Here’s a start....Where can I find more information about climate change?

People have always chosen the “facts” they agree with.
This is not new.
In 2020, people have more choice in convenient “facts” than ever before.
That is scary, as the concept of critical thought is rarer and rarer these days.

I’m willing to bet that not more than one person on this board is truly qualified to sort through the various scientific arguments, evidence, and opinions, to provide a learned assessment. And sorry about your luck, but I do not believe that such a person has posted in this thread!

Clearly, global climate (along with other things) is changing. This is not in doubt. Anyone who argues against it has their head in he sand (or up an orifice) so far that they cannot be helped. How much that change is due to various causes, is less clear. Climate change is a symptom, as are mass extinctions, and other planetary-level changes. Whether or not we have the ability to make changes to stabilize or reverse these changes is debatable. It is virtually impossible that we, as a species, will ever have the collective will to act. We’re still fighting much baser instincts such as the need to go to war with others over ancient beliefs or grudges, or to satisfy our own egos, when such a colossal effort will take the united efforts of all mankind to act in an altruistic fashion for the good of all species and all future generations on this planet.

As long as this thread does not get personal or political, we’ll let it go on for a bit. It is interesting in a way, to hear various opinions and experiences.

However, if you are going to try to “debunk a myth”, you are going to need more than ‘I’ve read reports’. Because seriously, I doubt you have. You can quote article titles, authors, their qualifications, and which peer-reviewed scientific journal they were published in, as well as your own qualifications to interpret them. Otherwise, you might as well just type “I read on the internet”.

So there is nothing political in post #97?

I come to this forum to getaway from political bullshit. That’s all it is to me complete bullshit from all sides.
