GMS - 2017 Alfa Romeo - 4C Coupe

Hello everyone,

My name is Rudi and I come from Slovenia. I had a 98' BMW Z3M Coupe. I was driving trackdays, timeattacks, spirited street driving but every year I wanted more grip, more power and better lap times, so I've modded my car through the years to the point that it wasn't drivable on the road anymore, so I've started building a dedicated race car. So now after two years of building and preparing this car I've started to missing a proper sports car that could be driven also on a street, so much, that I've started looking for a proper replacement of my former BMW Z3M Coupe.

I was entirely sure that in a few years, I would buy a Porsche Cayman, but somehow Alfa Romeo 4C caught my attention in a way only BMW Z3M Coupe did before. I've started reading all the reviews and technical specifications of the car and more I read about the more I liked it regardless of all the flaws people were talking about.

From pure curiosity I went to a local dealer to see 718 Cayman, but I just didn't feel any emotions about this car, so I left quickly. Later that day I went to Alfa Romeo dealer who had brand new 4C standing in a showroom apparently for quite some time now. The moment I stepped into the showroom and I saw 4C in person I was stunned. Car was a "killer". Low, wide, shiny red color with nice 19'' OEM wheels, yellow Brembo calipers and beautiful shaped body curves. It was nothing like I've ever seen before. I got behind the dashboard and it felt so right. It was love at first sight. I had some conversation with salesman to get the details I wanted and went back home.

I spent next week calculating my finances and all the rational thoughts were killing me, but I wanted the car so bad that I couldn't resist anymore. Long story short. I've started negotiating and after a restless week my brand new Alfa Romeo 4C was home. So here it is. I enjoy it every time I look at it, wash it, drive it. That's it for now. Here is a picture of my race car BMW Z3M Coupe and picture of my new 4C. More to follow...

We have leveled up in terms of surface finishing of our GMS parts. All the new batches of parts will now be processed in vibratory tumbler / trovalizing (edge smothering) and electropolishing before anodizing to achieve more stain and scratch resistant surface (finger prints, oil stains, etc.). The finish looks a level up compared to current technique we were using. The new batch of GMS SLT 305/292 discs and OCC system are the first to have this implementation the processes in assembly parts. I wanted to share photo for comparison, but its hard to tell from the photo, but when you hold both versions of post processed parts in hand, it's a noticeable difference. I'm kind of excited although not a game changing detail.

P.S.: Our business partner that does CNC maching for us also got 2 new CNC machines, 1x router + 1x lathe, so we can further focus on development and fabrication.

Rudi, will this have radiator air depart over the top of the car rather than beneath?
We'll see what we can do in terms of aero and how we'll route the air then. Inverted radiator would be the best but it would require quite a bit of supporting modification to make it proper. We'll find a way when we get there.

Supporting mods will feature side air extract fenders, closed bottom underbody panel, channeling ducts, splitter, etc...

I think the front end will have just about right amount of aggression to look like OEM "QV" version, not like aftermarket tuning add-on. Of course taste differs though.

Brake cooling ducts in full alu version seem to work fine. I've been using alu version for some time, but let's see how full carbon fiber version does. We'll make tooling for the carbon parts in following months...

The front end package aero package is coming together nicely too.

First we'll release the QV hood. Then the canards, splitter and finally the fenders. Hopefully we'll make it all by the end of this year. Then we'll focus on custom radiator and air channeling ducts to maximize front aero. This is probably 2024 project.

These are demanding projects in terms of costs, tooling and knowledge, so it's not an easy way to the finish line, but we'll get there. The people we have onboard right now are the best you can find in a very long perimeter and I'm glad that they are willing to work with us. Thank you.

We are also testing new GMS 3" Modular exhaust - Dual center out valved rear silencer to please the ever increasing noise regulations on and off the track.

hi eveyone
Hello. Any chance of being a little less brief? Even if you’re 10 years old (assumption based on previous post) you might like to state your interest and enthusiasm for the 4C.
Edit: 4 posts, none longer than 3 words. Come back when the literacy classes have some effect.

Hi, a short time ago I installed your kit
Hood Car Motor vehicle Automotive design Bumper

and I would like to have your confirmation: if I'm not mistaken, on the top of the "container jars" by unscrewing those two bolts equipped with a small rod, you can check the level of the liquid contained in each one.

While by unscrewing the two screws underneath the two jars you can proceed to make the waste liquid flow out...

Did I get it right? Tomorrow I'll take the 4C to the workshop and so I'd like to take advantage of the opportunity to have this oil-waste water bleeding job done...

You got it all right.

But...it's easier to unscrew enitre bottom jar than fiddle with the dipsticks or bottom drain plugs, so I always just unscrew the bottom jar and empty whatever kind of soup has been caught in it.

Excuse me but I'm a nerd in these things: then you can simply unscrew the lower part of the jar by hand, am I right?
Maybe having first the foresight to put something under the jars (to avoid dirtying the underlying part)…right?
Exactly. Just unscrew the bottom jar by hand. You can put rag underneath in case some oil drips down.

Yes, and unscrewing the jar is better in ALL ways. I did the bottom screw first time; more difficult, slower, more messy.

Very nice. I would also be interested in the front deck/hood.
