GMS SLR seat mounts (for Eltech V3 seats) are plug and play, lightweight, fixed seat mounts (adjustable by moving the slots), designed with tall drivers in mind.

While OEM seats look beautiful, they unfortunately don't provide the best lateral support on a track or a comfortable ride on a long distance either, so aftermarket seats are the solution. However, installing aftermarket seats comes with limited options, so we designed a plug and play solution to make an installation easy and simple.

In cooperation with Italian carbon composite manufacturer - Eltech, we developed fixed seat mounts for the Eltech V3 seats that can be installed without use of OEM sliders, consequentially, gaining the much needed head clearance. The GMS SLR mounts provide the lowest possible sitting position on the market allowing to fit the drivers of up to 198cm of height. Seat brackets also feature multiple slots to allow adjustment in length, height and tilt.

The seat mounts is a rigid, 3-piece assembly made of CNC bent 5182 series aluminum pieces, shot peened for extra rigidity and FEM optimized. Finish is black anodized, signature GMS incognito satin black. Mounting hardware is supplied in A2 grade Inox. The weight of the GMS SLR mounts comes at only 1890g per seat, the lightest on the market.

We designed and fabricated the seat brackets and carry them on stock, while the seats can be ordered directly at the Eltech.

We were offered a dealership for the seats, but decide to skip it. Why? The double skin seats look good (glossy on both sides), while single skin look not so good at the backside (raw carbon) but it doesn't really matter as the backside is not visible once installed in car. The comfort with the padding is acceptable and lateral support is somewhat sufficient, much better than OEM seats but of course, not exactly comparable with proper racing bucket seats. Weight is great at around 3.6kg for the single skin and a bit more for double skin version, which makes these seats a good upgrade for occasional trackers and weekend warriors looking for lightweight seat with basic comfort that can run 3, 4, or 6 point harness. Ergonomics seem best suited for medium built drivers while me being 186cm and 80kg, I felt a bit loose in the seat. The main downside for me was the helmet touching the seat headrest which seems a bit forward angled compared to common bucket seats, but it also seems my helmet is quite "long" at the rear. This bothered me a lot and was one of the main reasons I decided not to keep the seats. Regarding the build quality of the seats, you can expect somewhat standard Italian precision, nothing spectacular, but not all that bad either. While the seats are light, decently looking and well priced at around 1k€ each, there were small flaws that bothered me. Mounting holes were slightly misaligned, they forgot to make a slot for 6-point harness even though we ordered it specifically and the paintjob of clear coating had an orange peel, so we requested replacement and got them once we send the old ones back. Being in Slovenia, right next to Italy, that was not an issue to arrange in terms of logistics, but should we had to deal with that for a customer from USA it would be one hell of a logistics and costs. Either way, the next set of seats we got were better but still not perfect. The supplied Eltech brackets to fit OEM rails were not the most exciting thing either. They felt a bit underengineer in terms of fitment precision and some heavily visible markings of the bending machine, some holes were undersized, requiring a re-bore and paint was not too impressive either, but they work so I guess I shouldn't be bothered. However, the sitting position with the supplied mounts was even higher than OEM, so that's why we went to design the seat brackets of our own. We also couldn't find a decent shipping rate for shipping the seats overseas, so we decided to skip the dealership offering for these and let potential customers buy directly from Eltech. If anyone would be interested let me know and I'll connect you with the Eltech. Overall the seats are not bad, but not exactly what I was looking for or required for my type of use (track focused).

As mentioned, I initially chose the Eltech V3 seats for my 4C, but later decided to go with more race focused, high end bucket seats instead and opted for OMP Prototipo R. The cost for these new OMP seats was around 2.5k€ per seat vs. 1k€ for Eltech V3, plus we had to design new brackets which we will present in next topic. For now I invite you to have a look at the GMS SLR fixed seat mounts and the Eltech V3 seats to get the idea of this build.

PS. I also tried some other similar minimalistic carbon seats from other companies and even though they were significantly more expensive than the Eltech V3, neither felt "awesome" to me in terms of ergonomics, so I guess I'm quite demanding when it comes to sitting and perhaps my review above is slightly biased and harsh, but I wanted to share this as a thought before purchase for potential buyers. If you are into serious tracking, ergonomics and safety should be nr. 1 priority, so you'll probably want too look into proper bucket seats and skip the extra low weight and minimalistic seats like Eltech, Tillet etc.

I appreciate your unbiased review and look forward to getting the "guinea pig" seats in my 4C soon! I elected for these because I just need something to fit my taller frame. I have removed my headliner and sunvisors, and set my existing Sparco Evo QRT seats set to the lowest position with maximum rake to get my head into the roomier rear section of the roof, and I still find myself hunching over for good visibility, with helmet or not. I hope that after modifying these to accept the 5/6pt harnesses they will be a win! If not, no doubt there is another US-based owner that will love them in their car, so I'm not sweating it.

I believe I'm quite a delicate customer when it comes to sitting, so give it a shot and see how these feel to you. The OEM seats are a nightmare. The Recaro Pole Position I had next were an acceptable all-arounder with great comfort, but very flexy, lacking the rigidity. The Eltech V3 had the rigidity but were naturally less comfortable due to lesser padding. The very low sitting position, looks and the weight is definitely the highlight. Eventually, I ended with OMP Prototipo R. These come at 6,3kg per seat (lighter than Recaro PP, heavier than Eltech V3), have an OK comfort (less than Recaro PP, more then Eltech V3), but rigid and good ergonomy (I'd say 7/10). I don't believe you can get a superlight bucket seat with minimum padding to have comfort rating comparable to some thick padded rally seats. It's a trade off. I I'll stick with my current choice for now, but might try something else later.
