I finally got my pearl white 4C, now I’m on the way back to Florida. I bought it in Texas. It came with a full maintenance record that I’ll be going over when I get back to see if anything needs to get done. It was owned by an elderly man who couldn’t get in and out anymore so I got it for a steal. All new tires, oil, and 4 pages of things done to it to make it perfect for me. Definitely worth the wait. What should I do to it, and what should I check? It’s at 82k miles. Thanks! 🙏🏽

Congratulations. She looks lovely.
Do you have the service record? If not, and you don’t have the handbook, take a look at the service schedule below…
The oil and filter changes and cam belt replacement are the most important…Spark plugs should have been changed too. The screenshot below was taken from the Alfaworkshop site. There’s some handy ‘how to’ instructions there too as well as on this forum.

Thanks!!! No the official service record wasn’t included but I do have the handbook. I know my motorcycles came with one so I’m sure it was with the car originally and got lost with transit, or possibly it’s in the pile of stuff they gave me with the car. (I still have to go through everything) Plugs, oil/filter has been changed. They included a full log of maintenance records from the previous owner along with their own service records they did to it from the dealer I bought it from. The cam belt needs to get done however.

She does look great. I got a 2016 with 16K miles recently as well. I just took it to a local Italian car expert. He told me at about 15K miles the timing belt should be changed and bolt tightening needs to be done. He is also doing an overall service, including oil and brakes For the two key items, he gave me an estimate of about $5K. Dealer gave me a much higher price. To be honest I trust him doing it versus and dealer tech that may be new and attended a training or two. He has done a bunch of these.

Many of the cars that are sold by car shop were driven by “ elderly men….”

How many elderly man are buying cars they will no more drive after few years are there?!? :p

welcome in the forum and check the car according the history and what you see….don‘t care too much to the words of the seller. They would sell their mother adding 4 wheels and swearing they are a cart

Yeah I’m not new to this scheme, I been buying cars since my late teens (loved the old Craigslist days). However I verified that myself. He bought it new in 2015 and has put 80k miles on it before I bought it. Yes, I was very surprised to hear I’m the second owner of my 10 year old 4C. He only got rid of it because he hasn’t been able to get in and out of it. Not surprised by that reason. I have no issues getting in and out really but the carbon fiber tub is lifted slightly above the door sill thing and puts a lot of pressure on my left hamstring. When I first bought it I got a huge knot there, and still a week later, I have a huge 4 inch purple bruise there. I don’t mind though, I love the car haha

according to the other thread with the noise……you should have requested a warranty from the seller ….and the contact of the “ elderly man”………….
I don’t know the checks u have done before buying it…..but there was a check list if i’m not wrong on this forum and you should use that.

Nb…..I’m here in the Usa in these weeks and i can understand what you mean about difficulties to enter in this kind of cars….
Here in San Antonio and houston area all pick up and big size cars…….for big size people :p

It wasn’t doing the noise then, but they didn’t want to offer a warranty to me. It’s such a niche car that’s also 10 years old at this point so they didn’t let me get one. The dealer is in Texas anyway so it maybe would’ve been a hassle if they used mechanics closeby to them to get warranty repairs done. They are still trying to get in contact with the other owner before me. I texted them again asking for an update this morning and they said they’d let me know when he responds cause I don’t think they would let me have his information to contact him myself. Regardless if he did the belt or bolt tightening I’m doing it myself. That’s just so I have peace of mind in the meantime because I don’t take anyone else word for things typically without proof. Let’s just hope for the best though 🙌🏽

imagine then why they would not offer any warranty.

Or the car already had problems , or they sold at very low price and said “ any issue it will be at your ownership”………
Did you take a Carfax of the car? Did you checked for any issue or accident?

It is strange they would not share details of the owner …. probably it was not so elderly at the end …..and they knew that

i suggested doing a carfax now to check the past services and history . You could find some interesting things.

then cross fingers but i trust more in checking and solve…
Cross fingers or the faith is more effective with religions than in mechanic

I ran my own carfax before I got it. The first buyer was actually old. He is 74 now. No accidents, one recall it looked like, and some services done were reported to the vin. It’s normal to be skeptical, i was at first as well. It’s not going to be a perfect car regardless if everything checks out, it’s gonna have its flaws and moments.

I own a 2017 and I live in Florida. I wrapped the front and had a dealer go over it. Mostly changed everything that aged out including the tires. Try not to cheap out. I downloaded a complete manual, 4 binders if printed or a dedicated separate hard drive. Look at the battery. It can pass a stress test but Florida heat can kill it usually a year before it's due. So figure 3 years out of 4 to be safe. We love ours.

I’ll look into that, and trust me, I’m ready to put money into it. An exclusive car like this will get premium treatment from me. I may already have to replace the battery. There’s strange electrical things going on saying the stop lights and turn signals are not working even though they do. So I’m just going to get another shortly and see if that fixes it. Florida and Cali is the best place to own a 4C in my opinion. Beautiful views and weather, plenty of places to drive, lots of stop lights for short bursts of acceleration and nice curvy roads around me. Perfect Florida car
