Help ordering from Autoplus in Japan

So I'm trying to purchase some aluminum A/C knobs from Autoplus in Japan. Their website doesn't allow me to order since I'm in the USA. I contacted Hiroshi at Autoplus and he told me to bank wire the funds and he emailed me banking info and addresses etc. He can't take a credit card for some stupid reason.

The problem I'm having is that I'm trying to wire him from my Chase account and they want me to enter the recipients address. They have a separate line for Street Address, City, Province/Region, and Zip code. Japanese addresses aren't labeled like American Addresses and Hiroshi and I seem to have a bit of a language barrier. Have any of you guys wired Autoplus before or can possibly help me with the address situation.

Also when I type in the Swift code he gave me, the correct bank name he gave me shows up but the address is different. Apparently it shows up as his banks main corporate address but he wants me to change the address to his specific branch and Chase doesn't allow me to edit this. It just auto populates everything based on the swift code.

This is what he gave me:

BANK NAME : The Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank,Ltd.
BRANCH NAME : GINAN BRANCH
BRANCH ADDRESS : 3-40 MIYAKE GINAN-CHO HASHIMA-GUN GIFU-PREF
501-6002 JAPAN
SWIFT : ##### (Hidden for Forum)

ACCOUNT : ###### (Hidden for Forum)

NAME : AVANTGARDE CO.,LTD.
ADDRESS : 8-219-1 MIYAKE GINAN-CHO HASHIMA-GUN GIFU-PREF
501-6002 JAPAN

Sounds like your Chase person is using a US wire transfer format instead of international.

The Swift code identifies his bank, not his branch. His account number gets it into his account.

Doesn't Chase have online banking wire transfers? I can do this at home. In fact, I tried to do a wire transfer to Koshi at my bank branch and they told me the IBAN was wrong. IBAN was correct. The bank clerk was incompetent. I went home and did it myself online.

You want it done right, do it yourself! :)

P.S. Here's a photo of his bank branch. :grin2: Put the address into Google maps and it will break down the address for you. Maybe that will help your Chase clerk.

I was trying to do it at home. I already feel incompetent, please don't make me feel worse! :smile2: The guy in Japan keeps telling me that his branch address should show up and not his banks headquarters when I enter the swift code. That's why I'm confused.
lol! Sorry Enzo!

Okay...I can't tell how many digits are in the SWIFT code he gave you. If it's 9 (I think) it identifies the bank. More digits take it to branch.

Maybe this lookup will help. https://transferwise.com/us/swift-codes/
Transferwise is the only way to go! that is what I use for Japan.

Just tried that and I thought I was good to go and then I got this message:

Your selected recipient is not valid for transfers below ¥1,000,000 (SWIFT recipients are used only for transfers exceeding ¥1,000,000). Please select or create a new recipient.

FML! :frown2:
Did you try with Chase again? I was suggesting Transferwise just to check the Swift number.
Someone should buy 10-15 of these and get a discount for ordering bulk then sell to someone like me for more because i don't want to wire money to japan :)

An easier solution would be to use a forwarding service. I order a lot of collectibles from Japan, and a lot of the "good" sites (Yahoo Auctions in particular) won't take US purchaser information. If you don't mind paying the forwarder a fee on top of your purchase, there are quite a few good ones out there that can buy the item for you and ship it to your address. It's a lot less hassle.

Thanks Doc. Although you are kind of the one to blame for my migraine due to you recommending contacting Hiroshi in that other thread of yours. :wink2: Just kidding buddy! I truly blame Alfa for putting these crap controls on this car to begin with.

I'm praying that you broke down the address correctly. Hopefully my money doesn't get lost in the matrix if I can finally get this to go through. Wire transfers are such a rip off. $40 just to send the money. Who doesn't take credit cards nowadays?
How many people would be interested in these Autoplus AC knob covers?

As much as I don’t want to be the primary organizer on a bulk order, i can talk to Hiroshi about coordinating one.
I’ve known Hiroshi since my Abarth days in 2014.

I'm surprised Madness does not carry Autoplus items for the 4C, they carry some items for the 500: https://shop.500madness.com/autoplus-japan-mid117

Maybe they could source them for you?

Obviously I am. Keep in mind that there are two colors. The set I've been trying to purchase are the black aluminum.
