I test drove a 4c with leather seats and they were very comfortable for a 20 minute drive over rough roads. I just got my 4c delivered and after driving it for 10 minutes my back was killing me. The standard seat backs are concave, the opposite of what I need. The only mention I saw on the forum of this was a guy ordering a lumbar support. Do the leather seats have lumbar support or did I hallucinate on my test drive?

Just know you can angle the seats back via the bolt holes in the seat base frame and it makes a world of difference.

I actually hated the seats when I sat in the car in the show room. And actually considered not buying the car because the seats were so upright and uncomfortable.

Now after tilting them back I actually think the seats are great and quite comfortable!

I don't think they've changed any over the years other than the choice of microfiber or leather.

Maybe your test drive car had the seats tilted back and your car you bought has not been tilted yet.

And if they try to charge you adjust the seat you to tell them no that's not how it's supposed to be as this part of the initial sales to fit the seat to the owner. They tried to charge me and once I told them that and then they took the charge off and put it to the sales department which was no problem for anyone.

So it takes a ew weeks to get used to riding in the car. And you'll learn how to get in and out of it easier too.

Good luck

I believe that was me. Yes, the memory foam lumbar support made a difference. The one I bought was Samsonite. It comes with adjustable straps to wrap around the seat and lock in. My long drives are now much more comfortable. If you are tall, there is very little room to tilt the seatback once the seat is positioned all the way back.

I got a local auto upholstery to carve a thin foam shape to fit my back and insert it under the fabric of the seat. The seat's looks only changed slightly but no longer stresses my back. It cost me $160 and well worth since it is more comfortable than a blow up lumbar support I found and that was forever shifting.:grin2::grin2::grin2:

I've got a blow up lumbar support, installed inside the seat, a bit like Yellow Tulip's foam shape. Seat looks the same. Little pump hanging next to the seat. Back feels a lot better now.
Though I would like more support for track days. I have CG-locks, but more shoulder support would be great.

Installed a set of Recaro's

Better late than never. I solved my seat issue with a set of Recaro Seats. My wife and I both found the stock seats miserable. I live in the San Francisco area. With the Great help from the West Coast Recaro Distributor, Griffin Motorwerks in Berkeley, Ca. (Thanks Curly), we swapped out the stock seats for a set of "Specialists M Recaro Seats. We added the optional Lumbar Bladders. Amazing!! The seats are So Comfortable! Seat Back Angle adjustments? Just turn the Knob. Need some Lumber support? Squeeze the Bulb. Have Big Thighs? No Problem. Long Drive? Pull out the adjustable under Thigh Support. I could go on, but this sounds like an a Recaro Advertisement.

$5700.00 US. Including Tax and Labor (very high rates in this area) with this being the first and maybe only conversion, it took the guys a Lot of time. Still Worth every dollar!!
Thanks for the quick response. $5,700 US, OUCH! But if it solves the problem you'll soon forget the cost.
I was thinking of getting the 4C seats reupholstered with more side bolstering. Just a thought but, as yet, haven't looked any further into it.

No offense, comfort aside, I don't like the look of those seats at all. They look like seats out of a '96 Mustang.

I like the seats myself. I find it forces me to sit upright and with good posture. I'm 5'7" 240 lbs
