Hey folks,
Over the past couple of days, I’ve been reading through RICO4C’s posts about the tapping/rattling noise, and I also dug into some other threads on the same topic. I think it's really useful knowledge for new owners when it comes to maintenance.
However, my ear is poor😂 that I couldn't hear anything wrong in RICO4C's video.
Today, I took out the engine cover and listen to my engine sound closely which I never try it before. What I heard was a high-frequency "dadada" sound, kind like a sewing machine. It is not sharp but it is pretty load. I then touched the fuel injector, that round silver part if I am correct, and I found the vibration frequency matching the sewing sound I heard.
(By the way, don't do that unless you know your engine is cold, otherwise you are gonna BBQ your fingers🤪)
Another testing I did was revving up RPM a bit. As the RPM went up, the frequency of sewing-like sound got faster. When I released the paddle, the sound disappeared and came back again once the RPM settled at idle.
So, does that mean the sound I'm hearing is normal fuel injection noise? Also, I'd love to hear how you guys go about figuring out where different engine noises are coming from—any tips or tricks you use?
