1970 - 1972 Porsche 914 (But I still have love for the 73-76 models). Owned a couple of them.

That's why I bought the 4C...it reminds me of a modern-day version of the 914.
That's also why my username has been "ninefourteener" for over 20 years documenting car builds on the internet.
The 914 (IMO) is my favorite car of all time... in the history of automobiles. Love the quirky, ugly, unique, bastardized VW/Porsche Hybrid that nobody loved, and both enthusiast groups rejected.

I've owned over 70 vehicles.... but a few other favorites I've owned/built, that stand out as "memorable":

77-78 Pontiac Trans Am (owned 6 of them)
81 ElCamino
1978 Subaru BRAT
07 Subaru WRX - track car
Harley Davisdon Springer models
Various "unusual" Cafe Racer builds
Ducati superbike

"If I win the lottery tomorrow" list:

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta
1969 Lamborghini Miura

Honestly.... that's about it.
Apart from the TransAm's... VERY confused that your first dream car is a F12 Berlinetta:ROFLMAO: as it has zero in common with 914's, except maybe the material "steel" and there's 4 "tires".

I feel the 69 Miura SV is on everyone's lotto list here...

Lack of Renault is a pity for American consumers. They have several stylish offerings that could sell here.
The top Megane is needed BADLY in the US. It beats the type R everywhere except in rear seat room, and would shut up fanbois about how their cars are "fastest", trying to keep up with our cars and other exotica on public roads during rallies and acting more and more like typical Nissan/BMW drivers thinking anyone/we care they exist and still make noise. Plus, having the Alpine 110 temper Lotus Evora owners into realizing they don't have anything special in the least, and imo a gross retrograde from the Exige, would also be grand for the USA.

I would love to see well modded type R's, Megane R's, big power Golf R's/Scirrocos, Hyundai i's, Alpine 110's, elises, exiges, and Emiras with the occasional big power evora with massive hairdyers hanging out the rear bumper delete... Just not a parking lot FULL of ONLY the same money-dumped Type R's and turbo-kitted Corollas, owners revving loud and talking sh1t as a long-time tuned and tested Camaro rumbles calmly by, an actual local track contender I love to dice with as he perfectly trades time shavings on the straights while I shave in the tight section. A proper driver I can even race in the same heat with, without worry to pass while I get my tires to temp and without blocking when I relap... We average the same tenth with a modded 488 and a VERY MODDED 996 gt3 who has me beat by 0.02. "It doesn't have a widebody and only makes 525hp, there's no rear seats or trunk, plus it needs slicks or it can't turn..."🤦 USA desperately needs more perspective and options to school the very entitled newbies. I get loving the car your parents got you, that's appreciation, but to think you're Fangio Fujiwara driving the lowkey best car in the world because you worked a bit to slap on a massive snail pair, carbon fiber bits, and your car's brand's race cars had a few heydays... Come on wake up.

Renaults: Lovely engines, great handling, well designed BUT the Megane I had had more electrical issues than all of the Alfas I’ve owned in the last 45 years combined! I swore, NEVER AGAIN!

I had no idea what a Plymouth Superbird was, so had to look it up (that name!). Oooh, what a lovely orange spaceship. I like it.

A guy I went to highschool with had a superbird. Yes, a real one. He drove it everywhere and it looked like a freak of nature out on the road. It was a cool car.

He sold it (well before the prices went astronomical) and got enough to buy a brand new non-GT Foxbody Mustang 5.0 coupe. Clearly the Superbird is worth far more, but the Mustang destroyed it in performance.

@Alfanut. It is a 1300. Just brought it to the States. Spent almost all of its time in Italy with the past few years in Belgium.
Was that the one you have been spying for a while? Like the Piper Yellow. Much cooler to me than a 105 GTV. Light, simple, unique, hand built…wow and the 4C has echos of some of that. Will look forward to seeing it.

I have gone an easier, less expensive route for a 60’s/70’s sports car feel with a ‘74 Spider well patina’ed but straight, nearly rust free, good interior. Pretty stock but getting some power upgrades via Webers and a massaged cylinder head, 4:10 diff at Euro-Tec. Lime yellow, would look great on a 4C

@peterA116,
Yes that is the one. The color is supposed to be Champagne Metallic. It was restored many years back and still is very presentable. The rear axle seal blew after about 80km. No surprise due to a lack on use.
It had 97k km in 1997, 99k km in 2017, and 101 k km now. it will get much more use in the future. I am planning on taking it to the Fiat Freak Out in NH this June. Here’s a photo ona sunnier day.

My 718 Boxster S with Soul Performance exhaust and APR 93 octane tune is still with me and pretty easy to love. Had an ND2 Miata which is gone now so the Boxster fills the convertible slot and I loved that too, but definitely fell out of love eventually due to lack of power.

I would like to love a C8 Z06 or 911 Cabriolet S, but allocations without ADM are tough to come by, and I am too focused on other things now to hunt.
The 4C replaced my wife's MX-5 Miata. It was the shortest ownership of any car we've owned, and we were the 2nd owner but I think it only had 3k miles on it. It was a nice car, had great options and features, drove silent and smooth, and had terrible acceleration (went on a road trip and was scared to pass trucks on a 2 lane hwy due to lack of acceleration) and in my opinion, crap handling (compared to the hype around Miata handling and driving characteristics). It was also super cramped and uncomfortable for me as a passenger.

We drove a 718, but there was the price and availability issues, my wife liked it but wasn't wowed enough to ditch the Miata at the time, and it didn't seem to have the acceleration or braking of my C7. I loved the ride and handling though, and it fit me great with a feeling of interior space (much like the 4C). I liked it though and would definitely consider a Porsche in the future.

Yeah, the Z06 is unobtanium. Fortunately I'm happy with the Z51, and you can get them easily at MSRP if you're willing to wait.

Many years ago I was in France in a rented Citroen. The rental companies choice not mine. We went to Classic Le Mans where I asked a French racing driver who drove what. He said that zee Renaults are driven by zee drivers , the Citroens are driven by zee bad drivers , and the Peugeots are driven by zee old bad drivers. :)

Well she is still in Naples (probably be back in early April) so I bought a second set of wheels and tires (seems a lot of owners do change their wheels pretty fast and sell originals for next to nothing) from someone on the Corvette forum. I cannot say enough about this car it beats the 458 in basically everything but looks. In under 40 degrees with the Michelin all seasons developed for the C8 I was taking corners at speeds (far past legal limits in track mode with everything off) yes, the tires screamed but the car was controllable (that might not be the case for everyone) and I have to say the only reason anyone would buy a Farrari, Lamborghini, or Mcclaren for the street is for their ego not because it is a better driving car. I still will get the Spider for myself, but I admit for the first time that a box the box car has surprised me. Now I'm wondering what the Z06 can do.

Is yours in the factory AS tires @mrbreeze ?
What wheels did you end up getting? (Pics requested)

I've finally experienced some dry (albeit cold) weather and am past the break-in mileage on mine so have gotten a chance to have some limited fun. The performance of the C8 is incredible. It also has incredible road manners and makes for a great daily driver, which can be bad if you crave the constant adventure of driving a 4C. It's welcome on my work commute though. With the selection of tour suspension and mag ride it handles potholes and railroad tracks with ease, then I can pick sport or track mode and instantly transform the feel. I don't get why you'd turn everything off in track mode (assuming this means traction control and stabilitrack) unless you're just a masochist. In sub 40° weather on the street, my nannies will kick in before the electronic ones ever do. I'll probably go to Spring Mountain this year so I can test limits on the track. Even there, they still use the PTM modes as you can still reel out plenty of leash without having to go completely untethered.

I drove the 4C and C8 back to back yesterday which made for a fun driving comparison.

Ego aside, there's not much use for me to have a different car given my useage model. I love the appearance of the MC20, but I don't think the performance is worth the cost in comparison to the Stingray or Z06; of course I've never driven the Maserati and couldn't justify the $$ at my income anyway. I feel like if you stuck a different badge on the C8, and it was made in a European country in more limited numbers at a higher cost with everything else the same, the perception of status would be completely different.

I finally made the honor roll in junior high...once. My father got rid of a 67 Triumph Spitfire and replaced it with a 1976 C3 Corvette Sting Ray (smog motor). He died in 2006 and I had the car painted and it runs with a straight stainless exhaust. He had to pass before I even dared to do such a thing - even at my age! I am blessed with some presentable cars, including the beloved 4C, but this $4,000 Corvette will be the car, quoting Charlton Heston "they will have to pry from my cold dead hands." It still smells like it did when he took me for rides.

I drive every car without (when it possible to defeat it and in some cases have removed it entirely on many of my builds including the one of kind widow maker 911 I built years back and still own). For me it is the only way I can truly get the feel of the car and what it is capable of in my hands. I don’t recommend to others and while my skills have been-somewhat diminished by age I am still a very skilled driver also fear is one of only a couple emotions I am able to feel and it also what helps me feel alive. I don’t have a picture of the wheels at the moment but they are the same 5 spoke carbon flash wheels that were on the car when I bought it I just bought a second set and yes the tire are the all seasons made for the C8. I think the steering is good for a modern car though I have never been a fan of the electric assist racks that are so popular now.
