Insurance - LV

Hi All insuring their 4Cs in the UK; I've just received a letter from my insurer LV (Liverpool Victoria), to say they won't be able to cover the car at next renewal, for underwriting reasons. I know it's not personal(!) because I have other cars insured with them, so it must be the car. What could the reason be I wonder? Too many write offs?

Secondly, are there any recommendations for insurers? Who are you using? I'll be trying the usual comparison sites and maybe the owners' club insurer (Chris Knott?). I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Oops, I looked at the wrong figure, the Hastings quote. Yes, it is a big increase to £400. I assume that is because they have cottoned on to the value of these cars whereas in the early days they had no claims history. It isn't just a general increase in insurance costs as my 939 Spider and other cars quotes didn't go up anywhere near as much as my 4C.

Out of curiosity, I just did a search via MoneySupermarket, with just me as a driver, 2,000 miles per year, always garaged, and including breakdown cover etc. I don't think I'll be rushing to use One Call Insurance brokers!!

And at the upper end of the quotes.................. I think they must have seen my photo and think I'm a callow youth of 18

(I'm 62 so I would be more than a little bit flattered if that was true!)

This seems incredibly cheap from my perspective. I can only dream of a rate like that. Mine is 2.5x your premium. We are screwed good and proper down this way.

You've got less cars and more space and still pay more, must be some crap drivers out there?
