Joying unit dropping Google Maps

Hello, I use Google Maps as my nav app and the unit now drops the app after about 15 seconds. I tap on the nav option, it pulls up Maps, thinks for a few and then closes the app.

Anybody else have this issue? If so, is there a fix before having to get a new head unit? This just started after several years of having the Joying unit.

Oh, also the radio barely gets a signal now. It used to work fine, but now: crap!

Thanks.

Limited lifespan on these I think. My 3 year old 8.8 has been intermittent re GPS satellite locking this year and sometimes it closes apps for no reason. It was pretty solid for the first couple of years , but it has certainly degraded over the past year.

I may try a factory reset and reprogram everything but also I kind of see it as an excuse to upgrade to the higher-res 8.9" model with on-screen volume, etc.

Getting what we pay for re these units I suppose.

I agree, planned obsolescence! If I remember correctly, my Joying unit cost over $300 - so I expected more. I do not like the on-screen volume. So hard to adjust in a moving car, let alone a 4C!
If I get a new head unit, it will have a knob for volume.
