How do you know if it needs to be done?

 

Did this fix the ebrake from popping back up?

 

I also want to fix the ebrake popping up issue, should I turn clockwise or counterclockwise?

 

Turn the bolt counterclockwise to remove the slack and yes no more popping back up anymore. Much more firmer when pulling the E-brake up🙌🏽

 

It's not an e-brake (as it ain't electronically operated), it is a hand brake!

 

In the US the hand brake is commonly known as the Emergency brake
