Why all the troubleshooting? Easy answer here... Talk to your dealer in replacement fobs from the factory. Done.
New fobs, no/new issues: If your batteries still flat then, you live under or adjacent to main power lines, and need to sheath your electronics in a lead box or a faraday cage, or the furniture you store them in has an electrical current somehow, shorting your batteries. The twilight zone is just a show, and your 4c is to enjoy life, not stress you out.

Cheap batteries can be an issue....they often are already dead or putting out voltages beyond the rated amount. I had one I put in my expensive Mititoyo digital machinist caliper. It would freeze the display. I thought it was a new/dead battery so checked with some other batteries...they worked fine. I than did a voltage check with my multimeter....the bad one was about 1 volt ABOVE the rated voltage of the others. And yes it was the correct battery but made in China so.......
I was very thankful that it didn't ruin that caliper!
