Many of the potholes have been filled since last Monday although there are still a few to dodge. Did another Putty run today with the AROCA group but this time in the ‘Sud. It is possible to have fun with 60bhp and 850kg, though it’s fun of a different kind to the 4C…An even rawer, more basic experience still. Lowact was again in attendance to wave the 4C flag.

Thanks, Joe….They let me lead the pack for a while. A Giulia Quad got to the front after Colo Heights (I stopped to let the others catch 😂 ) It was fun keeping the Quad. in sight. She still sings in her sweet spot between 4,250 and 4,500rpm in top. It’s so light and nimble you rest the balls of your thumbs on the wheel, grasp the rim lightly by your finger-tips… then don’t slow for the corners. Steep hills on the other hand…great on the down-slope but a bit of a struggle going up. Yesterdays drive was as much fun as I’ve had in the Sud for years. Went home via Sackville Ferry and Glenorie to avoid the traffic jams around Rouse Hill and Marsden Park. You can notice the front negative in the photo below. Still handles like a dream.
The brown on the shrubbery indicates the recent flood level.

The Putty is closed over the ANZAC long weekend between Blaxlands Ridge Road and Wheelbarrow Ridge Road at Colo heights. A public service announcement just in case any of you thrillseekers intended to do a run this coming weekend.

Hence the thrill-seeker label..😁. My ride down to the gorge on Abercrombie Road last weekend was also during a double demerit period. THAT was worth the risk. What a 30km slice of riding/driving heaven that is. A Guzzistas’/Alfistas’ dream. Next weekend guys…

I’m doing a Saturday morning bottom half Putty Road drive on Saturday morning (August 6) with my son. We’ll be at McGraths Hill Maccas at 7:45 for an 8AM launch if anyone wants to join us. We’ve got a couple of Karts booked for 12Noon at the Butterfly Farm so need to be back at Wilberforce by 11:45. Apologies for the late notice. I’ll given an update on the roads’ condition.

There are 4 stop and goes along the Putty up from Grey Gums, 2 between Grey Gums and the Half-Way House. Most of the potholes have been patched but some of the patches are breaking up. One notable example is at the botttom of the long descent. There are a couple of chunks of bitumen that have broken off that a 4C isn’t able to clear. I went to the left to avoid them. Had a brilliant run on the way back. The Cup2s are very nice.

I was talking to Kim (Owner of GG) and they are doing it tough. Only open on weekends. They need more Saturday business. Sunday is usually chokkas. If you intend going up try to do it on a Saturday if you can.

I think I was done by a camera car too. Placed just over a sharp crest. 🤬

Had a hoot at the Butterfly Farm Kart track. Some really close dicing with my son. A fabulous morning. Highly recommended.

Shock horror Jim. I did not know you put the Liberace treatment on the wheels.
Looks good bud. Well done!
Yeah Mark, they’re my track wheels I bought from 25turbo. Not quite the colour I was expecting (they look better when wearing sunnies) but better than the original silver, which I am sick of as a wheel colour. Too common. Edit: Look at the wheels of the pick-up and F-Type in the background of the photos to see what I’m on about.

There’s been some electrical pole work being done during the week between Colo River and Colo Heights. More contra flows to negotiate. Thankfully the work disappears for the weekend. Got my photo taken today on the way back.
Edit: The contra-flows up the top end are still in place.
