IIRC LHD cars are fashionable in Japan and selling them is fully legal, so it is common for Euro marques to offer their cars in both RHD and LHD. However, that may only apply to some brands and also this might just be a fabrication I've heard (the legality of selling new, not the popularity), so take it with a grain of salt.

Kind of like the way some people privately import RHD here. It’s not truly JDM unless it is RHD.
And (at least per my insurance broker) premiums are instantly doubled!

I had an automatic S4 Spider for a while. It was an import from Japan and was LHD so it must have been legal to sell them there, at least back in 1992 when it was first registered.
