Sold for $67000

I’m offering my 2018 Alfa 4C spider for sale. It’s the most fun street car I’ve ever owned. Unfortunately, right now I rarely get to drive it, and that won’t change for quite some time. We just signed to buy a lot, and I’ve decided to sell the car to help fund the lot purchase and the eventual build of our next home. Title in hand.

The car is a very high spec 2018 4C spider with 16k miles. The car is offered at $67,000, and the MSRP of this car is $85,745.

The car is painted Rosso Competizione and has the microfiber seats and 5 hole teledial wheels. It has the carbon halo, carbon interior, carbon hood vents, and carbon Italian flag mirrors. It has the akrapovic exhaust, cruise/park beepers, alpine stereo, and red painted brake calipers. All scheduled service is up to date including bolt tightening. I’m an aircraft engineer by trade so I’m rather meticulous with proper service. The car was always garaged on summer tires and was stored in the winter - it was a pleasure vehicle driven in fair weather.

I purchased the car brand new through a non-Alfa exotic and race car dealership and have had them do most of the servicing as I know the local Ferrari/Alfa/Maserati shop and preferred these technicians. I have all purchasing details and service records.

I’ve attached a few photos from my time with the car, and current photos are posted below. If someone is interested in seeing more, I can always send specific photos and/or do a live video tour.

Known blemishes:
-The car has a curb scrub on the corner of one of the rear wheels. That was recent, and I’m happy to order you a replacement wheel if you purchase the car.
-When looking from below the car, the bottom of the front bumper cover chin has a scuff. Again I can have it repaired for a new owner, but I figured in my area that it would eventually just get scraped again.
-The windshield has no large cracks but has some pitting from our roads. I haven’t inspected yet but I will probably also find a rock chip or two that caught the paint in an odd spot or penetrated the clearbra.

Upcoming: Service is all up to date. This year the car will need tires and the timing belt service, and the Tarox brakes squeal more than I had anticipated so some buyers would want to switch to OEM brake pads.

Modifications:
I had an extensive clearbra installed at the time of purchase covering the front end, all exterior carbon, and a bit more. I quickly added the Sector111 front mudflaps as well to help prevent road debris from hitting the door areas. It has wheel spacers mounted. I had a Eurocompulsion air intake installed early on as I’m an induction noise junkie. Later I added Rudy Gale’s front and rear suspension bushings. The rears were done first to cure the odd near-the-limit oversteer/understeer instability. The fronts were added later and in my opinion they transformed the steering feel of the car for the better. I like it better than my previous hydraulic rack Porsches - which is saying a lot!

More recently I added Girodisc brake rotors with Tarox pads and had a shop clear bra the bottom of the floor to let me remove the carpets and show off the beautiful carbon tub. In the last 1000 miles or so I added an Alfaworks ECU when they were having a big sale - sadly it didn’t do much for me.

(If you care why: At my altitude the maximum turbo boost pressure is significantly reduced because it is limited by ambient air pressure, so while the Alfaworks ECU increases torque a bit by calling for boost earlier, it doesn’t seem to increase peak power at all as the turbo’s atmospheric wastegate bled off boost pressure at WOT even before I changed the ECU - with the atmospheric wastegate the turbo has no more boost to give.)

Thanks for looking.

I haven’t heard anything on the car this week, but then again it’s a targa top sports car and I’m looking at snow outside my window, so not exactly prime time like it will be when the spring weather starts.

Got to run the Elan for a shakedown with NASA yesterday. It snowed Friday and today, so I picked the right day! The car did really well, and I ended up having enough confidence that I decided to run the club race. I earned a technical podium, 3rd in a class of 3, but importantly the car had no meaningful issues, I had a great time, and I feel the car will be a great track and race car for the coming years. It will take me a few years to get fully up to speed in it.

For anyone considering going into the deep end with club racing, after making sure affordability is there for you I’d highly recommend it!

Meanwhile the Alfa is comfortably out of the snow in the garage looking beautiful as always!

It’s been about two weeks, price reduced by $2k to $67900. Had a little interest but no buyer yet.

This is getting towards an absolute deal here - if you're still not having joy I would consider listing somewhere like C&B (I've had great success there recently, PM me if you want more info) just to get a wider audience. I know the wider economy is turbulent but besides tributos I haven't' seen high spec'd 4Cs like this one on the major auction platforms. At the very least you'll get a lot of eyeballs on it - and for C&B anyway there is no listing fee and the listing turnaround is super quick compared to BaT.

I’m quite surprised it hasn’t sold yet given the great spec. Maybe I’ve overestimated how many people look on the forums; this is my primary and only serious listing. I’ve started to ask myself at what price do I just keep it - I’m getting close.

I’ll have to explore C&B if I don’t get interest at this price. Thanks.
If you research results on both platforms I think you'll find that 4C's do better on BAT than C&B. A single data point is the recent Tributo sale on BAT, 1,600 mile car brought $155k. Eight months ago a 450 mile Tributo sold for $117k on C&B and an argument could be made that economic indicators were better in 7/22.

Having said l that I hope you find a buyer here amongst the recent "I want a 4C" posters. You car is a great spec at a nice price.

I'd tend to agree as BaT is definitely more established and would get even more eyes on the car. C&B is free and super fast in turnaround though - and they're also pretty flexible with reserves and having sold two cars recently (both getting much higher than I was asking privately) I've had great success. If they agree to the reserve terms @ace you may get you're asking, else you'll have thousands more views on your car for people to reach out to you, without cost.

Thanks! I also would rather it go to an enthusiast that would appreciate it. And things like the front and rear bushings and clearbra are great for drivers but add nothing to a collector. Of course, BAT and C&B are full of enthusiasts too.

I’ll have to look at both if I go that route. Isn’t BAT quite a long wait? Not that that’s necessarily a problem - this is a poor time to sell an open top car anyway, and spring is a great time.
Beautiful car…makes me wish I had room for a second car ;)

I’ve had good luck selling cars/trucks with autotrader, Facebook and Craigslist. It tends to be a little bit of work sorting through the spam and tire kickers, but lots of eyeballs on it.

How is this car not sold yet? I want to sell mine and get yours because its the exact spec that I wanted. I would have bought this in a heart beat if it was offered last September. $67k is a steal for this.

Would be very interested. Just wish you weren't 2000 miles away :(

A carrier would have no problem getting it to you. At this price, and this spec, it'd be worth it.

Thanks guys. Yesterday the weather was great, so I took the top off and drove my four year old down to a local pizza and gelato shop and had lunch with him. It was just pleasant in so many ways. If it doesn’t sell at $67k I think I’ll work a few side contracts this fall and keep it. My wife is telling me not to lower the price another dollar, just figure out how to keep it rather than giving it away. I know it won’t be a car I can replace, and in five or ten years I’ll be able to enjoy it again.

For what it’s worth, I sold my last two cars remotely and shipped them across the country, and I expect that’s what will happen with the Alfa too. The 911 (a 997 hot rod) had a video call and a PPI done, and with the Range Rover Sport we did a long video call and the buyer wired money and had a shipping service pick it up within a few days. The earlier expected Alfa buyer had planned to fly here to inspect and purchase the car in person and then have it shipped. Of course, the weather was terrible at the time, and now it’s getting really nice. If I were buying this car, I’d consider driving it home and taking a scenic route through Southern Utah. The 4C is not a GT car, but that would be a fun experience to remember.

Man this is a really nice car for the $. All the right options and color too !
I just bought a high mile 2005 Ruf 3800S or else I'd be interested.
Trade + cash on my end ?
Thanks for the offer! I need to just sell it though.

The RUF 3800S sounds like a fun car! I previously owned a 997 MT modified with an X51 3.8L crate motor and other bits, so with some experience I think that’s a nice set of hardware.
