Sold for $67000

I’m offering my 2018 Alfa 4C spider for sale. It’s the most fun street car I’ve ever owned. Unfortunately, right now I rarely get to drive it, and that won’t change for quite some time. We just signed to buy a lot, and I’ve decided to sell the car to help fund the lot purchase and the eventual build of our next home. Title in hand.

The car is a very high spec 2018 4C spider with 16k miles. The car is offered at $67,000, and the MSRP of this car is $85,745.

The car is painted Rosso Competizione and has the microfiber seats and 5 hole teledial wheels. It has the carbon halo, carbon interior, carbon hood vents, and carbon Italian flag mirrors. It has the akrapovic exhaust, cruise/park beepers, alpine stereo, and red painted brake calipers. All scheduled service is up to date including bolt tightening. I’m an aircraft engineer by trade so I’m rather meticulous with proper service. The car was always garaged on summer tires and was stored in the winter - it was a pleasure vehicle driven in fair weather.

I purchased the car brand new through a non-Alfa exotic and race car dealership and have had them do most of the servicing as I know the local Ferrari/Alfa/Maserati shop and preferred these technicians. I have all purchasing details and service records.

I’ve attached a few photos from my time with the car, and current photos are posted below. If someone is interested in seeing more, I can always send specific photos and/or do a live video tour.

Known blemishes:
-The car has a curb scrub on the corner of one of the rear wheels. That was recent, and I’m happy to order you a replacement wheel if you purchase the car.
-When looking from below the car, the bottom of the front bumper cover chin has a scuff. Again I can have it repaired for a new owner, but I figured in my area that it would eventually just get scraped again.
-The windshield has no large cracks but has some pitting from our roads. I haven’t inspected yet but I will probably also find a rock chip or two that caught the paint in an odd spot or penetrated the clearbra.

Upcoming: Service is all up to date. This year the car will need tires and the timing belt service, and the Tarox brakes squeal more than I had anticipated so some buyers would want to switch to OEM brake pads.

Modifications:
I had an extensive clearbra installed at the time of purchase covering the front end, all exterior carbon, and a bit more. I quickly added the Sector111 front mudflaps as well to help prevent road debris from hitting the door areas. It has wheel spacers mounted. I had a Eurocompulsion air intake installed early on as I’m an induction noise junkie. Later I added Rudy Gale’s front and rear suspension bushings. The rears were done first to cure the odd near-the-limit oversteer/understeer instability. The fronts were added later and in my opinion they transformed the steering feel of the car for the better. I like it better than my previous hydraulic rack Porsches - which is saying a lot!

More recently I added Girodisc brake rotors with Tarox pads and had a shop clear bra the bottom of the floor to let me remove the carpets and show off the beautiful carbon tub. In the last 1000 miles or so I added an Alfaworks ECU when they were having a big sale - sadly it didn’t do much for me.

(If you care why: At my altitude the maximum turbo boost pressure is significantly reduced because it is limited by ambient air pressure, so while the Alfaworks ECU increases torque a bit by calling for boost earlier, it doesn’t seem to increase peak power at all as the turbo’s atmospheric wastegate bled off boost pressure at WOT even before I changed the ECU - with the atmospheric wastegate the turbo has no more boost to give.)

Thanks for looking.

Skimmed through the thread, might have missed it… Is the bolt tightening done recently? Also the common service parts like the time belt?
Good point, not sure the full details are there.

The car goes in for service and inspection every year. I have all the service records and can scan them if desired. I summarized them here:

-I bought the car in 7/18
-On 8/18 at 1100 miles I had the rear bushings, air intake, and engine mount installed.
-On 7/19 at 7400 miles I did the brake fluid, oil, and bolt tightening.
-On 10/19 at 8300 miles I changed the brake fluid and had new front brake pads and rotors installed. I did the oil because the car was there - looks like I forgot how recently I had changed it.
-On 6/20 at 9200 miles I had the front suspension bushings installed and the alignment done.
-On 1/21 at 10700 miles I had the Alfa dealer service it and they did an oil change and inspection.
-On 1/22 at 13100 miles I had a full inspection, adjusted the passenger side fender, replaced/upgraded the brake pads and rotors and added stainless steel lines, and adjusted the passenger mud flap. I checked my email and found this month I also ordered Jamie’s ECU and installed it.
-On 9/22 at 14700 miles I had an oil change and had a ticking noise diagnosed as rocks embedded in the drive belt. The drive belt was replaced and the issue was resolved.
-On 5/23 (today) the exact mileage in the odometer is 15280. I tend to report it in the listing a bit higher as I take the kids out to school or to get pizza and ice cream in the car now and then.

I did the bolt tightening early because I drove a few minutes on a gravel road (surprise canyon road construction) before turning around and taking a much longer route as I didn’t like the vibrations. The chassis felt off after that… I suspected it was less tight so I took it in for that service based on feel. Sure enough they found loose bolts as part of the work. It immediately felt great again and has been great ever since. I haven’t done a second bolt tightening yet, and I expect to do that when the chassis mileage is in the 24-30k miles range. The chassis bolts won’t loosen unless the car is driven, and the manual’s mileage based recommendation is the first one at 12k miles and then every 24k, so it would be due at 31k based on the mileage and me doing the first one early.

The timing belt will come due for replacement based on age this fall, and I planned to change out the spark plugs at that time. If you look at the mileage based recommendations, the first spark plug change is due at 36k miles and the timing belt is due at 60k miles. Doing rubber belts based on age makes sense to me.

A high spec, well sorted, well maintained 4C. This is going to make someone very happy. I’m still amazed this hasn’t sold.

My advice would be to list it somewhere else. Clearly the forum isn’t seeing enough buyer traffic because this should have sold twice over by now.

People really not appreciating how good a 4C this is. GLWS @ace

You need to clear a certain number of posts before you're allowed to initiate a PM. He can begin one with you...although I think you may now be past the threshold.
I sent one to you, so we should be good at this point.

If anyone wants to reach me about the car and has issues using the forums to do so, feel free to email me at [email protected] and I’ll reply and include my cell number.

Thanks John. I think you’re right, and a few others made the same comment. I don’t mind having the car around a bit longer so I haven’t been in a rush, but perhaps it’s time.
Jon sounds interested but it will be a while before he is ready to buy the car or his next car, so for now the car is still available.
Now I’ll see if listing the car on autotrader helps. The Alfa is finally listed on a major platform. I set the asking price there at $69k, and I expect that will allow the buyer to set expectations, see this thread, and either look to buy the car at $67k or to ask me to pay for e.g. the timing belt and spark plug change and take the car at $69k, whatever makes sense.

On the one hand I’m surprised the car hasn’t found a new home through the forum, but on the other, while to me it’s a far more special machine and far more of an event to drive, it’s just not as easy to have around as a Corvette or Cayman or Supra.
I just paid 62900 for the 2018 i bought, plus i just spent 8000 on stuff for it. if i had seen this i would i took it in a heart beat, it well worth it ( maybe to many miles ) but you have exact same 4c i had before i sold the first one i own
I, too am looking at 4Cs. I am a track guy and seeing this car sorted is impressive. My other 2 options are a 2017 Coupe well appointed, track pack etc for 53900 . I would offer 50K as the market is back in a real place. The other vehicle is a 2020 Spider modestly appointed. Both are in the 12-15k mile zone. I looked seriously at these cars back in 2020 but the high speed stability was a big turn off esp compared to the bullet proof nature of all my Lotus over the years. I will PM you in a bit.

My unsolicited advice: If you will drive this car more than on the track, buy the spider. And this car is reasonably priced, especially for what it is and the care it's been in. Buyers want bargains, I get it. This one already is.

Thank you guys!

If the new race car had been in the shape it was advertised as I may have been able to swing keeping the Alfa, but instead of needing to spend ~$5k to do some clean up and having it race-worthy upon delivery I’m at $30k spent so far, and I’m not entirely sure it’s done yet! Frustrating, but the race car is sure incredible. Might have to do a shorter than planned season this year to mitigate the pain a bit.

I bought some high end consumer grade sim racing gear and am trying using that to get my skills up - so far it’s helping a fair bit more than I had expected! It’s also far cheaper to run a computer than to run a race car, so that much is nice. Most importantly with my young kids I can do it more often.

PMs replied ViscontiVerde164L - it sounds like this is potentially a very good fit for what you’re looking for. Talk to you soon.

Sale pending to ViscontiVerde164L! Looking like he’ll have a well equipped and well sorted 4C next month. Pleasant guy as well. Hope he enjoys the car - I’m quite sure he will.

I didn’t get any interest in the car for a few weeks, and suddenly today I have the car pending sale, I received another offer slightly under my ask, and a third person is expressing interest all before I can mark the sale pending. Funny how it happens.

I signed over the title today, and ViscontiVerde164L will fly here to pick the car up next week. I hope and expect he’ll love the car.

He’s making a road trip of picking up the car and he expects to have it on a racetrack before his garage - I believe the car is going to a perfect home and will be properly enjoyed!
