6 years and 8 days ago I made my introduction post excited as hell that my 4c arrived after years of coveting one. That enjoyment for the car is still 95% here today as I write this. What an absolutely enjoyable machine. The fun adventures never stopped and the smiles only grew bigger. For anyone even remotely on the edge of buying one of these cars, please do, you will not regret your decision.

Initially I thought this was a forever car. My mind in that fact alone hasn't changed. But as someone who has 4 cars already and a 5th now on the way making my wife park outside for a third "special" non daily-able car seemed like a bit much. Honestly, what bugged me the most was servicing so many cars and keeping them all up to par. First world problems for sure, but it always got to me more than one would think.

I've replaced the 4c with a 600LT spider which I'm very excited about but very concerned with maintenance wise so wish me luck there.

Tonight is the 4c's last drive and I know I will miss the car dearly. It had no faults and did everything I ever asked of it. Thank you all for the wealth of information on this forum. Every single day I checked this website to see what's new and i really enjoyed that. So again, thank you all, its been more than delightful being a part of a true car group. I have a couple items I'm going to sell, (Wheel spacers 15/25mm and GMS front ball joints) if anyone wants a head start on them before I post.

Sad to see anyone leave the fold, but that's-a one-a spicy meat-a-ball you're replacing her with!
Yes, good luck with the maintenance. Fingers crossed.

Best of luck with that beautiful machine. And don't be shy about stopping by the forum whenever you get the urge to see what we are up to. It might not have the same meaning as when you were an owner - but at least check out the "Beautiful Women and the 4C" thread! ;)

Enjoy your final drive. :(

I hope you’ve done your homework. Best of luck with the McLaren. Hope she comes with a warranty.
I’d have kept the 4C for another 6 months to wait and see how you feel about the McLaren then. Your 4C looks fabulous btw. Enjoy your last 4C drive…..but will it be, I wonder?

It was a strange buy, 2020 with 150 miles on it. Honestly the lack of miles makes me more nervous than a 5k-10k mile car. But it does have about a year of warranty left and I will more than likely extend it. The McLaren lottery is strange, either lots of problems, mostly minor with the 600lt (coolant hoses, cracked windshield, minor electric stuff) or completely perfect.

I really wish you well with it. An amazingly capable car from what I’ve read.

Congratulations @Tex - I hope that you get as much enjoyment out of your McLaren as you have had out of the Alfa.
So that’s the sort of car that you would replace a 4C Spider with… I could never afford one of those, so my 4C Spider is safe in my garage for many more years to come.
Great looking McLaren and only 150 miles - sounds like it has not been loved and driven, but rather bought as a work of art to keep in the supercar showroom of someone’s toy collection. It is a work of art, so well done to you for adding this vehicle to your collection.
You won’t get as much entertainment out of the global McLaren owners group as this mob on a daily basis, as I think that this group is very special in their ability to share their affection for this special car that can be driven often and enjoyed on the best twisty roads.
I hope that you don’t look at the space where the 4C used to be in your garage and have any regrets at parting with your Alfa Spider.
You should still drop by the forum from time to time to see what we are up to, as life without a 4C in it can feel like there is something missing.
Cheers,
Alf.

Well I cant say I fault ya.
Take care
Best of luck bro, definitely an upgrade in power, and only about 500 pounds heavier... Let us know how it feels in comparison to the 4C.

Congrats on the new car!

Sad to see another long time owner depart but I really get the too many cars sentiment.Good luck with the McLaren and don’t be a stranger.
Final drive before drop off...
10x more difficult than i could of imagined. What a perfect car, I sat here for an hour as the sun sat behind the car knowing I was making a mistake. But hopefully the Mclaren lives up to its reputation. (in a good way of course)

Thank you all <3

Update...

Well folks in very strange sequence of events no McLaren and Alfa stays.

For those interested in the story... Put the deposit down on a Saturday agreed on price no problem. The BIGGEST draw to this particular car was it is a 100 mile car with 1.5 years of warranty left on it and 50 min from where I live. They gave me a really solid trade in on the alfa so how could I not buy it. (honestly don't like red, but everything else about the car was perfect) The warranty was worth big money to me because McLaren. So I paid up for the car and said F it, I want it.

I reach out to McLaren to confirm the warranty and sure enough it expired 11 months ago. The car was purchased by the first owner in January 2022, however technically the dealer "bought" it in 2019 and punched the warranty card. The reason why is McLaren was throwing money at the dealers to "buy" them and mark them as "sold" because it looks good for McLaren's sales numbers.

Well, that means I can get a McLaren extended warranty for two years at $7,300. That's a good chunk and kind of defeats the original purpose of paying up for the car, but I say F it again for the second time and start making appointments to get the car into McLaren for an inspection and warranty approval.

Then, from the U.K, i get a call from the "McLaren Global account manager for warranty administration." She mentions this car has had one service in its lifetime back in 2021 and for those reasons cannot offer me a warranty of any kind and the Vin number is flagged for that reason.

I said F it twice and I cant do it a third time. If this was a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, etc... i wouldn't even of asked about the warranty, but in the McLaren world of 30k transmissions and 60k engines without labor I will pass.

So the Alfa lives on. I apologize for the drama and waste of a post. Honestly sat in a parking lot last night staring at the alfa in tears. I really am not sure if I can get rid of this car.

Thank you all and I'll continue to be here, delete thread if needed.

That sucks about the McLaren but I'm glad you get to keep your 4C. Good call to let this McLaren go. I've had a similar 3 strikes rule when buying cars. I've had enough issues with some that most days it turns into a 1 strike rule. If it's meant to be there will be another one that'll show up with no reason to say F it! Welcome back?
I deeply want a McLaren and the 600lt hits every box perfectly for me. I'm not sure knowing what I know if I will continue to peruse one. McLaren dealers offer certified ones so if one pops up maybe. 992 GT3 in the cards for sure, but still wild markups there.

But getting rid of the alfa, I really don't know how I feel about that. This was an eye opening experience for me that's for sure.

Happy to be "back"!!

No worries at all. Re-read my first post reaction to you selling. I just didn’t expect it to be so soon. 😁 Congratulations on dodging that bullet, and welcome back. You’ll probably have an even greater appreciation of your 4C from the experience.👍

It's a big thing to do, maybe we should all rent other supercars first for a week or so before making the decision. I think the 4C is such a safe bet and good value, but we all think about the other side from time to time. Perversely I hadn't even sat in a 4C and bought mine over the phone :ROFLMAO::p so I can't talk.
