“Return of the Prodigal Son” Rembrandt
👉🏻A bit of culture, guys... not just Alfas and beautiful women!
Its solid advice, in my short life I have only owned 6 different cars, but I have never test drove any of them before purchase and I have always come out a happy camper. It's a big thing to do, maybe we should all rent other supercars first for a week or so before making the decision. I think the 4C is such a safe bet and good value, but we all think about the other side from time to time. Perversely I hadn't even sat in a 4C and bought mine over the phoneso I can't talk.

👉🏻A bit of culture, guys... not just Alfas and beautiful women!
The stars seemed to aligned on this for you. I think we are all happy to see you stay with the Alfa, you seem very passionate about it based on your confession on crying just at the thought of leaving it.Update...
Well folks in very strange sequence of events no McLaren and Alfa stays.
For those interested in the story... Put the deposit down on a Saturday agreed on price no problem. The BIGGEST draw to this particular car was it is a 100 mile car with 1.5 years of warranty left on it and 50 min from where I live. They gave me a really solid trade in on the alfa so how could I not buy it. (honestly don't like red, but everything else about the car was perfect) The warranty was worth big money to me because McLaren. So I paid up for the car and said F it, I want it.
I reach out to McLaren to confirm the warranty and sure enough it expired 11 months ago. The car was purchased by the first owner in January 2022, however technically the dealer "bought" it in 2019 and punched the warranty card. The reason why is McLaren was throwing money at the dealers to "buy" them and mark them as "sold" because it looks good for McLaren's sales numbers.
Well, that means I can get a McLaren extended warranty for two years at $7,300. That's a good chunk and kind of defeats the original purpose of paying up for the car, but I say F it again for the second time and start making appointments to get the car into McLaren for an inspection and warranty approval.
Then, from the U.K, i get a call from the "McLaren Global account manager for warranty administration." She mentions this car has had one service in its lifetime back in 2021 and for those reasons cannot offer me a warranty of any kind and the Vin number is flagged for that reason.
I said F it twice and I cant do it a third time. If this was a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, etc... i wouldn't even of asked about the warranty, but in the McLaren world of 30k transmissions and 60k engines without labor I will pass.
So the Alfa lives on. I apologize for the drama and waste of a post. Honestly sat in a parking lot last night staring at the alfa in tears. I really am not sure if I can get rid of this car.
Thank you all and I'll continue to be here, delete thread if needed.
I was thinking the same thing, how many times would they expect a 150 mile car to have been serviced? Even McLaren is afraid of a McLarenThey are beautiful, I just think it's telling that McLaren has so little faith in their cars that they wouldn't accept $7500 for a 2 year warranty on car with only 150 miles on it--even after a factory inspection........
Been there.....Keep it. Now, go and buy her some new parts to apologizeUpdate...

I wouldn't go the 570 route, to old of a car for me at this point. If I come across a 600lt I believe the alfa would be staying at this point. I got a solid trade in number and in that literal 45 second phone call the car was gone and I think i got ahead of myself. The stars seemed to aligned on this for you. Have you considered a 570s? Seems like a cheaper buy and you could factor in keeping the 4C if you were to buy one.
I recently cancelled plans for swimming pool so I sort of know how you feel. I promised my daughters an indoor pool nearly 3 years ago and it took that long and £30k in professional fees to get it past planning, heritage, conservation and the forestry commission. In those 3 years the cost of building anything has gone up 50% and energy costs to heat it has gone up 150%. I was given a figure of £45k per year just for heating.I wouldn't go the 570 route, to old of a car for me at this point. If I come across a 600lt I believe the alfa would be staying at this point. I agree with you all, for a 100 mile car, McLaren has no faith in their own products. I somewhat understand the perspective, a car that had one service to in in over 4 years is concerning, but as long as its gone through and up to date, how is it not good to go? I just feel very lucky this all happened right before I was about to buy the car not after. It's simply ironic. I placed the deposit on Saturday and told him I'd pick it up Friday simply because of work.
Either way I think I need to scratch that Mclaren itch, maybe it will be later this year or in 5 or 10 years.
So we all just learned MClaren won't support their product lines...On a car with 100 miles that sat in a showroom...total copout..from a brand proabaly mired in warranty claims....get them to take 20K off and get an aftermarket warranty of put the money aside for the just in case....be your own warranty.Update...

Councils are a nightmare, we're converting an old barn at the moment, had to jump through lots of hoops, each one costly. The huge long back walk is foot out of plumb, we were not allowed to rebuild it, so had to pay £20k on a steel portal frame inside, each time we dig a trench an archaeological chap comes with his flask to sit and watch, about £400 a day. Nothing is ever in the trenches. ! Don't mention tree roots 😧 and tpo'sI recently cancelled plans for swimming pool so I sort of know how you feel. The best quote for the build itself was over £600k, twice the budget I had set originally. There’s no way to reduce that either because local planning committee won’t approve anything less than an architectural masterpiece.
So, no pool. We are having a Roman bath and sauna in the converted cellars and that will do.
Point is, the instant I came to this conclusion, I knew I had dodged a bullet. I could have done it and seriously regretted it but I came to my senses in time thank god.
Yep we have had to do archeological investigations, tree root investigations and the like. They accepted photos of trenches and we dug them with my own digger so could of been worse. Goes without saying, there were no Viking gold coins or bronze swords!Councils are a nightmare, we're converting an old barn at the moment, had to jump through lots of hoops, each one costly.
