I know, I know - there are quite a few of these posts in the archive. But I didn't want to revive a dead thread... But I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the sound coming from the Eurocompulsion V2 intake. I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is mine. 🥰

It only comes on when boost is present, resulting in a pleasant driving experience when cruising on the freeway when it's just the motor maintaining 60 MPH. But boy, is it fun when you do get on it.

I'm thinking about this.
What is it that people don't like about it?

Some people complain about loud intake noise... I love it

This is not a naturally aspirated car. It’s a turbo with extreme prejudice. So I figure, embrace it! :)

I already have a constant whistle in my head so don’t need more of the same. The exhaust and engine noise drowns it out while I’m in my escape machine so my 4C is my sanity saver on a couple of levels, but each to his own. No criticism from me if that’s what floats your boat.

Did you also use a tune that takes advantage of the V2, and if so, did you notice any power increase?

I don't have a tune, but it makes it psychologically seem faster on the "butt dyno", maybe it's because I've been trying to stay in boost more often now to listen to the noises.

Yes, I identify with this mindset as well. It's a stripped down, carbon fiber tub'd, turbo 4 cylinder sports car. The more emphasis with motor noises, the more fun it is for me.

LOL. "Butt Dyno". I've learned a new term that I love. I have this on my car as well and it really does add a massive fun factor.
Butt Dyno:
A device which implements a human being's rear-end to report a vehicle's performance in acceleration or engine power.
My butt-dyno says it's faster!

Always use my butt dyno....do'nt believe in rolling roads for hp measurements....(y) My 4c has approximately 500 hp (i think)

I was a bit surprised at how much louder it was after I installed the intake, but I quickly began to appreciate the whooshing and fluttering sounds. My wife loves the intake sound. She says it sounds like the Ferris Buellers Day Off song “Oh Yeah”, the “chicka chickhaaaa” part. Often after a shift she will finish with a “Boww Boww”

So I’ll be replacing my Induction Hose for a nice new Samco Hose next month. I’ve been looking at the EC V2 intake and it seems that it consists of just a hose and filter
I’m thinking…can I just add the same intake filter onto the MAF in the same way as the V2?
I would have just bought the full EC V2 kit….but the hoses only come in red. My hoses will be yellow 😬
Any thoughts guys?

Yes you can. I would bet you would have to fabricate a bracket to hold the filter/MAF. Did you find yellow hoses? Tell me more, tell me more (stupid T-Mobile commercial)🤮

Thanks for your help @smc4C

I’ve watched Mikey Turbo fit the EC intake an he uses zip ties to secure the MAF to the sub frame. And I see that GMS CF Hose has a bracket attached.

If I do go down this route, I’ll start with the zip ties, then tidy up the job with a custom bracket later 👍🏻
Yes the Yellow Samco Hoses (intercooler-throttle body & induction hose) are available in lots of different colours direct from Samco, 6 week build time.

I didn’t go for the full hose kit, I’m planning on replacing the lower Intercooler hoses with those available from Scara73.

As installation seems to be quite tricky (according to MIkey Turbo's video on youtube) I ordered a BMC filter which I am to install in oem-housing, without the noise-damping sleeve. Also as I read experiences here on forum that the CAI may be too much...the vid in that post seems to evidence this.

Anyone experience as to how much the BMC filter alone would already increase the intake sound incl turbo whistle, without becoming too dominant?

Or do we really need a cold air intake, or BMC CDA / DIA airbox?
(I have the airbox on my Giulietta QV, as the BMC did not add much intake sound, but then in Giulietta the intake is positioned in front of the front wheels so far away from cabin. The airbox sounds really great, when driving next to a wall or so, so the sounds can enter cabin.)

Thanks for sharing experiences!
