An AGM battery uses the same trickle charger as an acid battery. Not so for the Lithium ultra light type such as Zero Gravity...they need a different trickle charger. I am putting a new battery in my 2015 LE next week. The existing one is going strong but figuring it is on borrowed time.
The Ctek maintainer has a mode in its operation that tests the battery and will also do some action to tackle some plate sulfation which should lengthen the battery life a bit.
Another bad thing for a battery is to let it go dead or drain to a very low level. That will reduce its life also. I remember reading somewhere that if a battery goes dead and has to be recharged....it will cut its life in half. I don't know if that is accurate but certainly makes sense.
I believe the stock battery is a no maintenance type....at least I never had to add water. I don't believe it is an AGM though (Applied Glass Mat). Those AGM type of batteries won't leak but is still an acid type battery.
I like the idea of the ultra light weight batteries but the cost to save a few pounds is prohibitive for a street car. The maintenance is more involved...they don't like to sit for extended periods than a couple of weeks without topping off the charge, and I have heard they don't do well in freezing climates....perhaps some users of those types can chime in.
