G force meter - does it keep max?

Took my 4C to the track this past weekend - what a blast! Car was amazing. I'd love to see the G forces I hit, but I didn't want to put the car in race mode because I'm not suicidal. Does the car list highest G forces reached at all, or is it only in realtime? Any way to get the meter in dynamic mode?

Thanks!

That G-circle is a joke. You don't want to be looking at a G-circle on track . . . especially when you are actually generating cornering force.

I'd recommend using an app like TrackAddict or Harry's with an iPhone or iPod. Those G-circles are useful when viewing your laps.

Alfa 4C with OEM tires is a 1G car.

Thanks! Yeah I wouldn't have time to look down at the G meter as I was turning, but I was hoping it would at least keep the highest number. I'll try an app next time :)

Hornetball is pretty good with his $19.99 phone app answer.

But here is the real bargain and $3.99 answer. You hook your mobile phone up to it and point the video camera at your dash.

It should make quite the entertaining video if you're spinning the wheel around a lot! But it should record well enough as long as you hold the wheel still for a bit.

I use it when I do my top speed runs.... but I haven't done one yet [emoji13] too chicken!!

Alternately you can hold your passengers head on your lap and have them stare at the dashboard. That is fun too.

The OEM bullseye G-meter isn't very responsive. I don't know how accurate it is or isn't. The phone app is a better way to go. Point the camera out the window and record both the track (via camera) and as much of the technical data (via Harry's) as you want/need. As a learning tool, you have a record of braking points, acceleration points, turn-in, apex, turn-out and many more. G-force is shared between turn and braking or turning and acceleration.

If the max the car will handle is one G, and you doing that while turning, you can't afford any more Gs from throttle or braking or even a change in road surface. Hitting a rumble strip can be more upsetting than most realize.

What about that engine oil temp gauge... Has anyone seen anything except gauge being always on the center line? I cannot believe oil is not heating up during race session.
