Yeah, that’s my fear, as I’m going 18” all the way around. What is the Michelin’s diameter?
For the actual diameter you’ll have to wait. I’m about to hit the pool and swim a couple of km. I’ll be back home in 90min or so.
Edit: Didn’t drown. 😁 Given the tape measure isn’t quite vertical the diameter of the 205/45x17 Michelin SS is approx. 23.8”. Tire rack quotes 24.3” for the same tyre. They are out by half an inch. I have no idea if their errors are consistent or this is a one-off. I’m heading to my garage to change wheels. The Sun is shining this afternoon. I’ll measure my Cup 2s when I’m done, but they have a couple of thousand km on them.

Suspension is reset F-30clicks, R-24clicks, wheels are on, lug bolts torqued and the car lowered onto its tyres. The centre-cap stickers have to go.
With my negative camber the wheels sit just right I think. If it’s a fine morning I’ll be off to my usual set of bends to test the effect of the offset change on the handling.
It’s dark outside and my garage has not so good lighting. More photos in sunlight tomorrow.
Oh, and the wheels? They look not too bad I think. Offset not too aggressive for the tyres initially selected. I showed my very reserved younger son and he just smiled a broad grin. Fantastic result @John4C. Thank you. We’ll hit the road with them tomorrow. The car has just been lowered onto its wheels and it will settle further once we get it rolling.

Do you get any rim protection with those tyres or is it a case of parking well away from kerbs ?

Who parks at the curb-side? 😁 Never yet curbed a wheel.
Because when I go to see Luigi my barber I always park outside and I walk in he shouts “ you still got the Ferrari then? “ (he’s Italian )

I say it’s an Alfa

”Ah but with Ferrari engine! “

I say no it’s a 1.7 engine by Alfa

he laughs and says you joking right ? It looks like Ferrari, I bet you pull women in that !

and it happens each time and I park outside near that high kerb :( :D

its a bit run down area but adds to the experience 😳

There’s an advantage with baldness. I can use clippers on myself, save on employing a middleman….and avoid parking next to the curb. 😉😂

Having lunch at Colo Riverside (again😂) . Gotta say the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are a good tyre. Comfortable enough and nicely pointy. They make you point to where you want to go when you want them to with great feed-back. The Contis grip nicely too with lots of feel. I’m not one for mixing tyre brands but this combo is good. Both tyres have similar characteristics (round, wide and black😂). The GMS front end helps too I’m sure. An acceptable combination, with nice balance. They look pretty good on the wheels too.

About the wheels: Really happy with the offset. Not too aggressive and no scraping of guards (so far). In my case I think there is no necessity to go wider with the tyres. I’ve lost 1kg or more of unsprung weight at each wheel. Adding tyre weight by going wider for little practical effect on the road and costing massively more makes little sense to this retiree.

To @John4C, thank you for your advice and patience. These wheels are beyond my wildest dreams. Simply brilliant. The offsets suit my purpose
and the colour? Yep….it does it for me. Cheers…You’re a genius. 👌👍

Two readily apparent negatives:
1. That exposed inside rim area is going to need a lot of cleaning.
2. Might have to go 215/245 simply for ground clearance. There’s a rake effect making the nose even lower than the quarter inch height reduction from the smaller sidewall of the front Super Sports. Another suspension fiddle might be needed….Then again that might screw things up for the Cup2s.

Edit: Wheel Specs.
Stefania Matrix Gold
F:17x7.5 ET 24 (Current tyre: 205/45x17 Michelin PSS)
R:18x9.0 ET 25 (Current tyre: 235/40x18 Conti Sport Contact 6)
Note: Rear tyres fitted are due to a lack of availability of rear MPS4S or MPSS.

It’s six o’clock and still dark (due to daylight saving still happening). I’ll be out in a couple of hours.
Damn
