I am looking for a 4C spider and would like to know what is a fair price. I was considering the 2016 car in Philly but at $56k it seems a few thousand high. This car has under 2k miles but will be needing timing belt service and maybe other service due to being 5-6 years old.

I see coupes listed for $42-48k or so and spiders for about $46-55. I thought there might be some negotiation in a buyers market but this dealer doesn’t want to budge on the asking price.

opinions?

Seems a bit high to me since doesn't have the carbon halo, akra exhaust or microfiber seat inserts. Really comes to what is the value for you. If you don't care about the things above and you're comfortable with the price then who cares about anyone's opinion. As you've likely seen on the forum, these are getting harder to find. If you're local to this area, the ability to run over there and look in person would be a huge plus in my opinion (not sure where you are located).

The market is pretty spec/mileage driven.

I don’t think that car is a good deal at all though (the Sky motors car). It’s a very low optioned car for that money.

What is your ideal spec?

if you want Rosso Alfa this is a much better car/price

That may be sold. I’m kind of amazed if it isn’t. It’s an every option car(CF halo & Akra)

I have a question, is the Halo the carbon fiber surrounding the wind shield (wind screen)? If so I was under the impression this is not an option but was standard on all spiders due to the requirement for increased support of the chassis necessitated by the removal of a large part of the roof.

Thank you, for the input. I realize they aren’t making these anymore so examples like this will dwindle. Still, I thought rarity juxtaposed to Covid and a winter season would net some leverage on pricing.

To me, it seems priced about $2-3k high. I am not very local so shipping is going to add $725 to the cost.

Don't go cheap on shipping. And unless a short distance, $725 is cheap. There are major differences in quality of shipper and type of trailer. The guy who transported my Elise from Detroit to Austin pointed out (and documented with pictures before shipping) more blemishes on the Elise than I did when I examined the car for purchase.

Did you give the dealer a firm offer? He may be able to come down a touch if you offer him the chance to finance it. Financing may get him a point or two kick back on the loan. Maybe if you buy at his price and ask for the servicing costs to be split 50/50?

At the end of the day, if the dealer thinks their car is worth XX amount, you telling them it isn't likely isn't going to change their mind. If you don't want to pay that price, yes there are other 4C's going up for sale. I will say, most of them are going to have more miles than that one but there are times you can find the unicorns that have low miles going for lower prices.

In short, you aren't going to be able to tell someone what their car is worth. If they don't want to lower their price, that is their own prerogative. You just need to decide if that price is what "you" want to pay and if not, keep searching.

Sage advice.

The only thing that I would add is that it doesn’t hurt to make a firm offer for less - it’ll either be accepted, start a serious discussion toward a selling price, or be rejected flat out.

Sometimes, something can be used to sweeten the deal for both parties - such as an OEM extended warranty that is worth more retail than it costs the dealership, or perhaps financing the car as suggested above, is all it takes to tip the scales in your favour.

If you finance the car see if it has a no-prepayment penalty agreement. That way once you get the car, after a couple of months pay it off if you have the cash and no penalty. However, with the low interest rates today it might be better to keep the financing if you have a better use for the money now.

Thank you, guys. I put a deposit on the car agreeing to a small discount. Shipping in an enclosed carrier. The car’s spec hits most of my must-haves and I don’t think low mileage cars like this will come around often.

The factory warranty has expired so apparently it can’t be extended (according to the dealer). He is offering a policy from Allstate for something that averages out to like $1k per year. I have to look into this. I don’t usually like to buy policies but I am considering at least a 3 year coverage.

I am super excited to finally be getting a 4C.

side note, you CAN add/extend factory warranty to it I think, however they would require you to bring it into an Alfa dealership for an inspection, and the price of the warranty will be way higher, not worth it IMO, these cars are very solid

Based on the post on prior page, looks like he purchased the one in West Chester. If you want to sell yours, best to put a classified with price. There was a long string a week back from someone floating the idea without a price attached. That thread ended-up closed with a classified posted. Best of luck with your sale.
