Fault code P0571 then P0628 and engine still runs 2-3 second after turning off the ignition

Update: Put the battery on the charger for a day, did a drive yesterday with a few stops along the way and no codes whatsoever! So seems to be the battery so far.
But here is the question, the first time the codes popped up was right after a 1:30 hour highway drive. So how the long drive did not charge the battery as good as the trickle charger? Could my alternator going bad also? I read the voltage when car is running and it was around 13.8 V so seems that alternator is working fine.
Any reply would be mere speculation.
It sounds like the alternator is working from your description.
Might be internal battery chemistry, temperature, connection issues.
My GUESS would be that the battery is failing you and will let you down in some circumstance (or combination of circumstances) as yet unknown.

Keep it on the tender (not trickle charger, but smart charger that will not over-charge it and as some do, send pulse charges, etc to try to rectify internal issues and prolong the battery life). That won't bring it back from the dead, but could help you if you're not ready to part with it just yet. However, be prepared that the day might come sooner than you expect, and will almost undoubtedly be at an inconvenient moment.

I have to admit, though, that I've had very good luck with battery life in vehicles for decades. I keep my cars, trucks and farm equipment typically for a long time, and can count on one hand the total number of batteries that I've replaced in 40 years. With anything that does not get moved for more than a few days to a week, it either goes on the tender, or disconnected though.

Thank you, was not sure the difference of trickle charger and smart charger, well I am using the 4C charger which per its user manual seems to be a smart charger. Also a new battery is on the list, I just could not find a good AGM H5 size locally, they have to put special order for me, the regular acid H5 is available but decided to go for an upgrade to AGM. Also looked around the forum for lighter batteries but could not find a good option which does not cost too much and does not need modification of the strap and the plate under battery.

Good on the upgrade. Make sure that you have the appropriate charger for this style of battery. I don't know if it is different for AGM.

As to the "trickle" vs "smart" charger, I'm no expert but a "trickle charger" typically refers to one that continuously sends some power to the battery, regardless of whether it requires it or not. The more modern version will automatically stop doing that when needed. They are designed for no-touch long-term charging. Some even pulse the charge and do other clever things to supposedly prolong life. I'm sure that google is a better resource here than I am, though.
