Thanks for the reply but I'm in England. If nobody comments that it's a normal sound then I will go back to the dealer, an Alfa Romeo garage dealership. It's just not local to me.

Remember that the cabin acoustics can fool you regarding the source of a sound. At the very least they can fool me. Where you think a sound is coming from may not be the actual source.

 

Be sure your ECU software is up-to-date. Have a dealer check.
There was a ticking sound that turned out to be a relay. Happened, I thought, only wi5 early cars. But wouldn’t hurt to check and rule this out.

May refer to year of manufacture, but it specifically says NAFTA region (North America), which isn't you. I’d still ask your service department manager, on the off chance there is a similar document for EMEA cars.
