Not a huge fan of being constrained to a "retro" look. It causes compromises that I don't think are needed. In fact, those older designs get emulated in large part because they weren't "retro" in their time.

With the exception of Fiats, Italian designers seem able to resist the "retro" urge. They're always looking forward. I can see a "retro" 2045 Alfa 4C coming to pass to try to capture the magic that our cars have. :)

Juste read in a mag that people from Alpine were joking at Geneva motorshow about the 4C being much heavier than said by Alfa when they weighted one. Not the first time I read that, it was always by people on forums who don't know what they talk about but this time not....I read here that some of us weighted their cars and didn't have a bad surprise, so what about that rumor ?

Recent post by new member Gale, about just weighing his car (corner weighing, so an accurate scale, not something that's "going to be within 100 lbs or so" ;-) )
http://4c-forums.com/7-introductions/44042-2017-alfa-romeo-4c-coupe-3.html#post736354

I did a simple corner weight of a car today and results were impressive.

FL: 185kg FR: 185kg
RL: 285kg RR: 275kg

This brings total to 925kg (all the fluids + 1/2 full tank of gas, without driver), so the dry weight should be 895kg, like a factory specifies.
Of course, Alfa did the magic of quoting the "dry weight" to get the maximum effect for the car.
And that's the Euro car - ours in N. America are heavier, and the Australian one falls somewhere in between. Depends on options as well.

We'll see how close the Alpine gets to its forecast weight, when the time comes.

Alpine A110 catches fire and burns up during Top Gear shoot.

“engine management light” came on, and shortly thereafter, Chris Harris was made acutely aware of a problem, with The Daily Mail quoting the presenter:
“I first realised I needed to get out when I opened the door and the flames went up my arm.”

That’s not very good for preproduction! Sounds like that car should have two lights:
“engine management light” and a “FIRE!” light.

Very funny, Tom. There’s always the risk I’m talking too soon but maybe the Alpine realised it was Renault and did the honourable thing.

No doubt! Seems like it goes:
Preproduction
TV car show
Public

But many cars don’t seem to get past the TV car show phase.
Just how many cars has Top Gear and The Grand Tour torched anyway?
Seems like an usually high percentage.
